Scenario- I plan on doing a little bit of "daily driving" during the cooler months with my baja. I've always wanted a topless baja, and my longstanding plan was to cut the roof off of one, but now that I have the car, I'm not sure if I want to or not. I do have a garage at home for the car, and at my workplace I have an assigned covered parking spot. Our lot is low-traffic (not retail space or anything like that), so I don't THINK security on days I drive it to work will be an issue (no radio or anything good inside anyway, and no plans to install one).

Thanks for the feedback.

As an owner of as Vert Baja I would say leave the top on it. When you go out offroading, especialy with others its nice to have windows to roll up to keep the dust out.

Rent a jeep for a week. Drive it with out the top, you will change your mind. It's not as fun as you might think.

put in a rag clip. Best o both worlds.

personally I love going topless in my landcruiser, and in out new beetle convertible. Your mileage may vary, but IMO the dust is a badge of honor.

I never thought of the rag idea.

Anyone have popouts? How are they offroad?

Early pop outs go for about $250 & up. The everage price though is around $350 a set. If you go offroading with them, keep them closed or they will eventually break.

Thanks for the tip Daryll- that just saved me about $350. The main reason I'd want them is to have them open when wheelin', but if they're that pricey and I'm just going to break them, then I guess I'll just forget it.

DAMN Popouts go for that much??? I took the popouts off my 67' baja, because I want to run it with no glass. Maybe I should sell em' - they are in great shape.

az350x - Do like me, keep the top on and WHEN you roll it over, THEN cut the top off. Thats my plan, for me its not if I put it on its lid, rather of when. Shocked

I believe the 64-earlier ones are different, and they are the expensive ones. The 65-up ones bring $100 and up if decent...

Hopefully, I'll not find out what it's like to flip this car. I doubt if I'll be a real maniac in the thing, but I guess only time will tell!

Yeah, The 65 & up pop outs are larger and you can usually pick them up for $50-$60 on up.
