whats up everyone? im jake (Aztrikepilot7) genius. haha yes my last name is literally spelled and pronounced ''Genius'', haha but any way i found AzBaja by just browsing google really just looking for anything about bajas. i happen to live in az and maybe thats why i found it so quick. i just got a 72 vw baja with full steel roll cage, good 1600, and a nice lift for my first car. im 18 and my dad helped me get it as my first car for only 1100 bucks! all it needed was a clutch a wheel bearing and now its driveable. i still need a rear left fender and hope to get a bug eye kit asap. and a roof scoop cooler if i can find it for cheap. some people might wonder what my name means (az trike pilot 7) well i LOVE honda atc three wheelers. my 250r is a champ and not to brag i ride it like one (for only being 18) haha. but i would really love any pointers or tips for a newbie. my dad has had serveral bajas and his first car was one. i have pics up but there not on my page for some reason. thanks, and hope to be at the next meet. Evil or Very Mad

Welcome to AzBaja. I also have an 84 250R with a modified engine in it. I can't ride it like I was 18 anymore so it sits.

We use the old hand 110 we used a lot. the 250R seems it was built to cripel or kill you.

Bunch of people hurt on them. I think this is why ATCs were mostly outlawed.

they are dangerous. we had a 185s at first and that thing was a death trap, but i think the 250r and 200x are alot safer if your careful.

Three wheelers including 250 Rs were built to cull out the people with no common sense. Very Happy The 250 R does does a better job of it. They require skill and patience to take the time to learn how to ride them.

I learned quick that 3-wheelers, when you fall off them, will hunt you down and stomp your butt into the ground. On the other hand, 2 wheelers tend to pitch you off one way and themselves go the other way.

But with age comes a cage...

I have a 200x honda atc that I'll probably get rid of. Someone gave it to me and I got it running, runs awesome, but the clutch is bad.

Worst part is I would like to ride it, full suspension is something I've never had and remember how my back would hurt after a day on the 110, 185s or my friends 200m. I would have to find someone to go out with. I sold my 185s for that reason. You just can't go it alone on such a potentially dangerous machine.

Good luck on your project.

I remember when I was in my early teens the first time I saw one of those three-wheelers in Rocky Point. A friend of the family had one and let me try it. I had been on dirt bikes for years, and 1st time on I popped the clutch and went over backwards! Being as slow witted as I am I just could not stop putting my foot down to turn like on my dirt bikes. Drove over myself I dont know how manyt times. Rolling Eyes Like MR said- three wheelers come after you to punish you Twisted Evil while two wheelers get rid of you!!

That is funny I road dirt bikes too. The foot always seems to go down and the ATC rear tire would eat my pant leg...

273 people have viewed something i posted on the internet about my first car. thats crazy to me! well i just wanna thank anyone who took the time to view this post, thats a really cool feeling! and i also wanna say thanks to darrel at Bugzyla for hooking me up with a free rear passenger fender for my 72. i got to see his bug and alot of others at his shop, it was really cool. i hope to be at the next sonic meet, and run and i have to say im really glad people have been able to relate about the old days of the atc/atv industry on this post. on most other forums there would have been plenty of arguments about how 4-wheelers are better than 3-wheelers, but as a young rider whos only experienced so much of both i can only say so much. i havent had the pleasure of getting a foot sucked under the back tire yet, but im sure it will come haha. i started out on a dirtbike too, a cr85 and then moved up to the 185 atc, then the 200x. now i ride an 84 atc 250R, and i just love how a three wheeler is the perfect mix of a dirtbike and quad. i agree with everyones opinion they do have there downfalls and were outlawed for a reason, but with the right practice i think a three wheeler can be ridden better than any quad.

Haha Cool Jake, you'll notice most are lurkers and the rest of the "guests" are most likely webcrawlers from the Search engines (the reason for all the views), but it's good to share your thoughts and opinions. IF they are unwelcome, then you're on the wrong board. AZBaja is laid back and I like that. I'm not for the "Club" type orgainization, I've been through it and just got out of a very long relationship of that type.

It's funny you mention the running over your leg. We used to ride the 110 like mad and had the two of us on it. One day we're running a track that was cut out in the sand with cool burms and corners, till we hit a bump and my friends leg went under the Rear wheel and it through us both off. Smile Always with anything you drive/ride experience improves your ability and there's only one way to get it. Get out and RIDE! lol Have fun in your Baja!

Welcome to the site and have fun with the baja. I kind of have to laugh at the fact of being run over by the 3 wheelers. When I was riding my dirt bike the only time the foot went down was when you stop.
