Worked on my generator today. I have a 64 generator on my 68 so the wiring is different. I pinched the tip of my finger off with wire cutters trying to put pinch the connectors on the bolts. Just a temp thing to get my car running. She's been sitting for a while and she started right up! Now I'm sitting here at work until 7am and I'm cutting a stripped bolt out of my fan shroud so it will stop wobbling.

Ran the clutch and throttle cable lines on the rail and fixed the brakes on Project II by replacing the brake pedal.

Began replacing stock boxed trailing arms with 3x3s. Stock boxed ones will be for sale shortly for cheap. They come with inner and outer stock CVs, drive flanges for 002, and all hardware.

Found and picked up replacement fenders for the front and heater boxes I plan on using asap! LOL They were in great shape, I don't think I've ever had heat in a VW. Smile

The fenders are probably going to be butchered, I think they were more for a street look. I don't really care, just as long as they are functional, don't rub and look the same.

Big thanks to Don! I made sure to mention AZBaja!

Tail lights are wired and all work. aka Done.

Lower Aluminum Radiator Hose is in place. Thanks JWH for getting then end welded up for me.

Went to the plumbing shop and got 5 1.5" copper fittings to do my upper radiator line. None of them were what I needed or backwards of what I needed. ended up going back and getting 1 45' Flange/No flange fitting. 1 90' Flange/Flange fitting and used the 1.5" to 1" reducer I had from the 1st trip. Did a few cuts with the Dremal to shorten 1 flange on to 90' by 1/2" and the matching Reducer by 1/2". Painted the pipe all black yesterday. The upper line is now done. Just need to clamp it in place next week.

At this point the engine should be ready to run. Just need to do final hook ups for electric fan and redo the fuel line/filter. Need to replace fuel filter that has end fightings to a filter that has a 90' input out put fittings. The filter puts a kink in the fuel line but a 90' input/output filter will fix that.

Now it is more painting on the inside of the car and remount the battery and box.

P.S. I'm working Sad summer vacation is over.

A 68 is 12 volt and a 64 is 6 volt. Have you converted the 68 to all 6 volt? That would be very odd as the entire rest of the VW world has been converting 6 volt to 12 volt since the 1960s. Maybe the generator you got out of a 64 is a 12 volt after someone else converted it long ago?

Radiator install is done, Just needs water. I need to Zip tie and loom a few more wires than the back of the car is done!!!

Now the front end Sad . Was going to hold out on working on it tell after the Pizza event. Wife and I went to bleed the brakes last night and all the brake fluid came out and onto the skid plate. Seems that the line for the resovior to the brakes is a 1/2" to short now...? Not sure how that has happend as it has been like that almost 20 years now. I need to go out and buy some new brake hose for the resovoir. And now that I have the car apart at that end I might as well do some paint and wiring too.

Hose must have shrunk. Shocked

Didn't you know you aren't supposed to leave the Baja in the drier on Hi?

Cool
