Just picked up a CLEAN 1600cc assembled shortblock that had new connecting rods and bearings, polished stock crank and align bored .020. It also came with rebuilt SP heads, and lots of parts... 2 new clutches, 2 pressure plates, 3 009 distributors (1 was a Bosch with Petronix), old 019 distributor, 3 DP heads w/o valves, Engel 110 cam not installed, resurfaced flywheel in celophane still, accordian heater tubes, 3 pulleys, SP intake, new front and rear tin, gen stand, voltage reg, new throttle and clutch cables, several sets of seatbelts, new starter, 2 oil pumps, 2 different stykes of pushrod tubes (adj and non-adj), various new seals and gaskets, external oil cooler and filter setup. All heads and case were beadblasted and super clean. Spent just over $500. The case is a dual relief and I forgot it came with 3 coils. I will need to get a carb, exhaust, heater boxes and doghouse cooler tin and cooler, plus a few tin pieces and the alternator. I think I will go with the SP heads since they are sooooo pretty, and I have the manifold. I will trade or sell off parts to get parts and keep in my budget. Dirtjunkie is building it for me and I'll rely on his opinion for alot of it. I may have the Engle 110 installed if that makes sense. He'll split the case and give me an honest opinion on things. I'm pretty stoked!

If you go with the engle 110, advance the camshaft a couple of degrees to get the power down to the bottom of the RPM range. 110 cams dont like to run well at less than 1800 to 2000 RPM unless the cam timing is adnanced.

That is some good-looking stuff. Are you planning on running straight cut cam gears? That and a cam upgrade will get that class 11 moving really well.

Nice!!! Geat step up.
Plush Score.
Wouldnt mind building up those DP heads right with new stems and such...and a FRESH CUT.
Zylas point is right with me for that lower offroad end.
I love my stock and w100 all the way around....Porsche designed it right!!!!
Build it tight with Dual releif and a mellow cam.....counterweighted be nice but not necessary....get and post the thrust on the rear main after you split that case.
Those DP head might just be your ticket with a DELL.
Just saying...dont want to control just help out.
oooowwww and if you do up the DP head step up the stems you'll be glad and proud you did in times of high REV.

I also picked up the remaining pieces needed today. I'll clean the tin and shroud, then paint them. I went with a 30pict1 carb, 019, stock cam, polished stock crank, new bearings, mexican stock style header / 2 tip muffler, new alternator, 85.5mm cylinders honed with cross hatched pattern, new rings, new connecting rods, rebuilt single port heads including new valve guides, seats and valves. High flow oil pump. I hope all goes well.

I degreased the tin and doghouse shroud and painted everything tonight. I'll drop the bug and painted tins off at Dirtjunkie's house tomorrow.

I returned an EMPI exhaust and just ordereda Tri-Mil Euro 2 tip exhaust and some rocker shaft shims.

I have the same Tri Mill exhaust on my 66 bug it should work great on your car it,s short and tucked up there like a stock pea shooter, they sound nice too.

Good thing you went with the stock cam even advanced I you were not going to like a W 110 cam in a 1600. If you check Baja57's stock 1600 dyno post you'll see where 1.4 rockers on the stock cam gives a big boost in torque.
