Anyone know a good place to have a top chopped? Tryin to get a idea who and what is out there for my next project.

Yeah I was on that site before here, I was originally goin to build a Volksrod, but went offroad instead. I just was wondering if anybody new a good place in town, or I may make a go at it my self. Nice thingis if i F it up then itll be a vert then. Cool

My bro started to do a chop a few years ago but lost interest and sold it. You work w/ sheet metal so I dont see it being much of a problem for you. You just need an entire doner roof for the added sheet metal. That is also going to be my next project. Have you seen the pics of the one just built called "DEATH" that thing is sick!

Why not buy this car for $600 and save the hassle of doing it yourself. I would buy it, but I dont have any extra cash right now.

I almost think there must be something wrong with that car. Its been for sale for a while now and the price keeps dropping and no one is buying. And if i had the money I would have it know.

I think it is a great start for a rat rod but you would still have to weld on a front clip.

If had the cash i would, hopefully after the holidays Ill pick somethin up, or talk my friends and family into buyin one. If anyone comes a across a 66 or older for cheap let me know.

Do you think welding in a 16 gauge piece be alright opposed to scabbin a donor roof. The car metal is 16 or 18 gauge. Man the wheels are just spinnin now.

I will have a donor roof you can have in a few weeks. Its got a dent on one side, but its great for the sheet metal.

Do it yourself. I'm going to chop my 63 ragtop after the first of the year. Suicide-doors and more, too. Check out volksrods.com, go to the "too lazy to search" thread stickied at the top of "The Cutting Board" and go to the technical threads. There should be links there on a few different ways to chop a VW top. If not, go to www.runtrod.com I know he's got them there. When I start mine I may post pics on volksrods or I may not. I'm doing a few "top secret" mods that I don't want seen until the car is close to being done. Check out KCW, too.
