i have one more question......
if i follow the guide from this link
<http://www.bluegrassghostinvestigations.com/baja.htm>
, will the front tires rub someplace if i turn too much? (without stoppers)
im really new to all of this, thats why im investigation a LOT (im the kind of guy that has to have everything PERFECT) lol
also, is there a way to make the back tires stick out a bit more?
note that im in a tight budget here, but i know how to weld a bit, and have access to quit a lot of scrap metal

Also do not use stock VW rims. get a set of the white wagon wheel type rims. You gain from 1" to 1.5" of width per side over the stock VW rims.

nice clean lookin baja james.
perrib....can you like give me those tires? those are freakin awesome..
i need some.
heres my rims...you can see how much farther they stick out than stock rims...

if you compare with perribs rims...
btw these type of rims are officially called "spoke" rims so if you search those you find what you want.
there like $50 new so there nice and cheap.
the stock ones cover up the whole brake drum. mine only cover it about 1/5 inch...you can see almost the whole drum from the front..

btw on yur question about the tires rubbing. there are two set screws that limit how far the tires can turn. so you can just crank those in a little bit and it will keep your tires from rubbing.
ahha i found the picture i was looking for.
as you can see on the left side of the beam next to the left shock tower. there is that metal tab with a bolt sticking out of it. there is another bolt below it and the arm on the steering box hits those bolts at the limits of it travel. btw my steering box is out right now but it goes just to the right of that tab.
hope that helps....
