Thanks Matt and Perri!

That engine is going to need some help. Crappy rebuild. It appears to have a standard sized bearings though. The Case had one of the Studs unscrew with the nut and another had been cross threaded when the nut was put on. Too bad it wasn't the one that backed out! LOL

I'll let one of them elaborate as I really don't know enough to sound intelligent. Lots of silicone in places I don't think it should have been , around bearings, etc. the lifters also appear to have been sanded with a belt sander. I guess one of the Oil rings was also installed wrong..?

Well, the tear down is complete. Not as good as I had hoped for.

well the tear down didnt go too well on the engine. Case needs work- 1 main case stud pulled out of the engine because the wrong fasteners were used and it galled up the threads. One main case stud completely stripped out. The case was not decked for the 94mm cylinders. The case was so sloppily covered in RTV there was no doubt it would have gotten into the oil pump. It had the wrong oil screen in the sump that would have led to oil starvation. The lifters looked like they were faced on a belt sander, the cam bearings are shot and look like old reused units. The rods did not look rebuilt but will probably(still need to be inspected) be okay, the crank and bearings looked serviceable. With the step in the heads and from how far down the pistons were in the cylinders it looked to be around .185 in deck height along with semi hemi heads! Probably had 6:1 compression. All in all one of the worst rebuilt engines Ive seen. However, if Kenny finds the case to be serviceable it shouldnt take too much in parts and labor to put it back together.

Thanks guys for the hard work on what is arguably on of the hotter days here in Phoenix. On the bright side we are almost on a downhill side.

Santa did manage to bring this:

Some very nice HID lights. Will light up the ninght sky like nobodies business. As always “hoodlum” aka “Project Manager” is keeping a watchful eye over the good stuff.

I know they're have been a couple of hick ups getting this project off the ground, but I wanted to take the time to thank everyone again. Everyone involved with this build from information to donations has been extremely helpful and resourceful. I can't wait to see my brothers face when he gets to enjoy everyones hard work that is going into this project. So, once again thank you and God Speed!!!!

Well, this project got stalled a bit. I had a work project that had to take priority. Back on it. Game plan, buy block, get this bad boy rolling and going under its own power. Thanks for all the support. Just did not want anybody to think this had fallen from the radar, or been stymied.

Will get better on updates as we get back in gear.

Thanks again.

Well, sorry for the delay. Boy has my personal been on a tear. Some exciting changes are coming my way in the near future and it takes boat loads of time to address them. Big moves a foot.

Still working on this project. The motor set back was huge. And now we have a block, sleeves, etc. Hope to have it fired in the near future. Then we will have a time crunch on this project so all you helpers – get ready to help!

Shout out to Chris G. for some nice led lights. Really nice. Buy em here at okledlightbars.webs.com/

Back on track and will tell more about the personal changes sometime in the near future.

Thanks again Chris!

We are going to need a piston 94 x69 cima mahle. One of them after clean was abused by a hammer to badly to function. Used is fine.

This has been interesting. I stripped the crank, it looked nice til # 3 rod came off. They had "rebuilt" the engine with a damaged crank. The bearing had spun and raised the journal. It would not polish out.

Special thanks to Doug's Bugs and Bunnies for parting with a good German standard crank.
It went together well until I went to install the almost new Chinese oil cooler and adapter. See the picture of the seal. It is odd shaped because the oil holes obliterated the sealing surface. Take note: NEVER glue in oil cooler seals. There was enough black death to seal two engine cases on these gaskets.

I got another adapter sans studs. Should be easy to swap. The Chinese studs twisted before the came loose from the aluminum.

The oil pump was another jewel. It has had enough debris passed through it that I doubt it would of made much pressure.

Next neat thing not it is drilled and tapped for full flow, there was even a remote oil filter attached to it. Good thing they left the plug out of the pump that was supposed to force the oil through the oil filter.

Another plus it had the wrong size oil galley holes. It was an early pump in a late case.

This is what a 2mm diameter bead of RTV squished between the case and cylinder looks like. I try to stretch it so it is more like a 1.5 mm bead is a bit excessive by my standards but that is the smallest size on the nozzle.

Tomorrow morning I'll get some studs and see what surprises the tin brings.
