My son and I NOW HAVE A RUNNING BAJA! It appears to be set up in a racing style. 16" centerlines, dual coils, dual oil filters, train air horn, gauges, push button starter, extra axle mounted in the trunk, IRS rear, skid plates, spare mounted in the cab, newish 225/70r16 tires. The hood is steel,

That is on of my old Bajas. Very Happy I had given it to a friend who raced off road for many years with team Sidewinder and McDonalds and he added a few things to it. You'll note will it looks like nothing special it has many features which are not easily noticed. It was just supposed to be a stock reliable Baja. If it still has the same engine you will luck out. I see someone was not to bright and took off the Zenith carb (with choke) it had. You might want to see if they still have it as it was very close to being brand new. It was a 76x90.5 with 044 heads Mike Fischer ported for the Zenith. It had a VZ 14 cam and would spin 31x10.50 tires on the pavement. It had twin batteries with an isolator switch, my last functional fan powered defroster. Passenger grab bar, guages, lots of clamps on the hoses so they did not walk around. Note the steel hood with lock, thick front skid plate, bumper mounts are welded in, fire extinguisher. The brush bars are early 80s as are the large running lights. Clutch foot rest and acc pedal rest. I don't remember if the T Mag was in it or not when I bought it, one I bought was glued in with roofing tar. Shocked If not it was a NOS T-Mag kit Mark had. Now if just my all steel Baja would turn up. let me know if this has a round hole about 8" cut out behind the rear seat. if it is this is the one that had a 2180 w/spg roller crank, VZ 15 cam and dual 45 webers and was dry sumped. I think it may be because of the spare axle. That 2180 was fast. I would get in front of him quick with my light rail which back then topped out at 90 as I was wound out he would pass me and pull out of sight. That picture brings back some good memories.

Thanks Perri! I'd love to know more about it. Does it have a Thing front beam?

Maybe I can drive over and let you take a peek. You'll never believe how much I paid for it. I knew it looked like a wolf in sheeps clothing.

I don't think it had a thing beam but they are unique and easy to spot. The lower ball joints are flipped over, lower turkey leg and spindle are different. The Empi coil over shocks are someone elses doing.

It turns out this is an old race baja built by Perri. It's on the way to his shop to get checked over and so he can explain everything on the car. Probably a Stroker motor. My Kadrons would be nice on this...

It was just a play Baja with attention to detail. It would take quite a bit more to race it.

Does anyone have linkage for a dual Kadron setup I can borrow for a week to see if these carbs will work before I buy linkage?

How cool to have history for the baja. It looks real good. Keep us posted on what you do to it and that is a lot less work than what you were working on.

I pick the baja up from Perri today. I will ship the Kadrons to the Kaddyshack tomorrow. I sold our old project baja and centerlines to help finance the carbs being rebuilt, rebushed, modified and tuned. Not too cheap, but I wanted a quality carb on this big engine and had the Kadrons sitting in a crate.

This weekend, I'll change fuel lines, pull the skid plate, change the oil and degrease the whole thing. I am pumped! Hopefully, I'll get the carbs back next week and install them before the new year!

Perri has been a tremendous help, identifying stuff on my car and providing advice. I picked it up today, and shipped the Kadrons off to the Kaddyshack. I bought some tune up parts today. I still have to get plugs. Ya think the Weber progressive was running a little rich???????

That's very cool that you have a running car and know the history - Perri does some great work. What are your plans for the barter-beetle pickup?
