The Crown King Run 2012!
Hey Off roaders!!

It’s that time of year again!!!! When the weather gets better and we venture out to explore and enjoy Arizona. The next event is the Crown King Run. It is set for Oct 20th – 21st. We will be leaving the Oasis Bar (99th Avenue & Carefree Highway) at 8 am sharp. This year Jim has offered to let the Club stay at his cabin in Crown King. There is plenty of space for camping on his property and we can walk into town from there. Jim also has a tub for fires!! -- if there is no fire restrictions! I know I told a bunch of you that I would be taking my baja this year, but Dawn had a family obligation arise, so I will be taking the rail.

I don’t know if anyone is planning on going up the front way this year. If you are, let me know so I can get you in touch with the other folks that are going up that way. I will give you directions to Jim’s cabin. FYI - the front way is GEO Metro approved!! So you don’t have worry about taking your stock car up the front way. I took a day trip up to Crown King last month to the lean-tos and the fires thankfully did not reach them. (Yeah!!!!)

I thought it would be a nice change to stay in town and enjoy the Crown King night life, I am looking forward to dinner at the Sawmill and having a glass of wine with dinner and walking back to camp. There might be a live band at Grants bar! I know that the thought of seeing me dancing scares most of you! I will keep it to a minimum, I promise…. (HE HE HE!) I don’t want to bore you with any more about this run… it seems to sell its self…..

See ya in the dirt.

It was another great time in CK. 10 vehicles, two near stock Bajas, one Truggy, one 4 dr Rubicon, one 4x2 Jeep Comanche, two side by sides on with a trailer, three rails. One Baja slid in a ditch on its side and ther other one lost a tie rod. No big deal every one drove in and drove out.

Hey off roaders!!!

This year’s Crown King trip was a blast. 10 cars showed up for this event and everyone made it back under their own power. We had some new faces this trip, some very nice cars and great people. Most of us enjoyed CK nightlife by eating in town, I think the food was awesome and I think it tastes so much better with the dirt from the trail in my teeth. There was not a whole lot going on in CK this trip so we had the run of the town and the bar was within walking distance of Jim’s cabin. I would like everyone to send out a big ”Thank You” to Jim for letting us camp at his cabin this year it was nice to have a drink with dinner and walk back to camp.

Once again Team Baja showed that by slowing down and enjoying the run even a stock Baja can make our trips. These folks are some of the best hardcore off roaders I have ever known, just super fun to ride with.

Just a reminder.

The AZ Baja’s “Play Day” November 3rd, out at the Hassayampa River at McDowell I will be camping out this year with everybody. So I will be seeing most of you there. Just a reminder that this event is good event for those of us that don't have street legal cars.

Until next time ….

See Ya in the Dirt!
