I found this link on a mini-truck site. It's for a GPS dongle that make a pulse output to a digital speedometer. I thought it might come in handy for someone, like me, who is weighing speedo options.

www.docskustom.com/quicksync.html

It's a little expensive, $190.00, but still pretty cool....

Boat speedos are GPS too. Or you can go just and install a low end GPS into the Speedo hole and have it turn on when you start the car.

I have also seen people put the magnet for a bike speedo onto a CV flange and run a bike speedo.

My son has that gps/speedo app on his phone too and I agree...It works great...As long as he's riding co-dog in my car/truck. If he;s not there...Oh well...LOL

The one I have has a heads up mode so it will project the speed on to the window.

i just downloaded SpeedView: GPS Speedometer to my Android and it has some very cool features.

The Main screen can be enlarged to just show Speed, Odom, Heading and Elevation.

In some of the sub screens you can have it get your 0 to 60 time and your 1/4 mile time.

I am excited to try this out.

I have a old Garmin VI in my buggy mounted to the dash, love it shows the trail ahead, elevation, dist to end. I can make bread crumbs back to camp and it tells my speed in mph. I have it mounted where its easy to read and its backlit so I can see it on night runs. I can also save locations (campsites) or download trails so I know where to turn and not get too lost!
