That looks like it was a hole lot of fun for all. I do hope that I can make it down that way someday and hang out for a while.

Hey off-roaders!

Well it was a great trip to the river with our friends at the AZ Baja Club. It seemed like everybody brought anything that would play in the dirt.... We even had some RC cars running around, and the kids loved the big sand box to play in.. I got there Friday night and used up the last of the wood I had, there was cold wind coming into camp so we kept the fire burning hot. The next day I opened my door to the smell of breakfast cooking everywhere. About 9ish everybody started to show up for this event, we had a good wind block set up with the RV's by the end of the day. The first event was an off-road game with a touch pad, one race, best time for a prize. I was told it looked like I was dancing while I was driving??!!?? After that was the Poker Run -- most of us found all 5 cards!! But some of us just could not stop playing in the sand long enough to find all the cards. (Question! - How do you know when an off-roader is having fun??? - by the dirt in his teeth!). Kenny impressed us all on how to set the ride height on the rear of his rail. After rounding up all folks in the wash, we made our way back to camp to see who had the best poker hand. I was pleased to have some friends "drop in" on the party. (You had to be there Wink With a full house of smiles we were off to the blind optical course. I have never done this before -- the driver was blindfolded and the passenger had to tell the driver where to go, you lost points if you went off course or ran over someone. (I think there is a game or something you get points for running over someone?) Kenny and I found a stack of AZ hard wood up the wash for tonight’s fire. WHAT A SCORE! with enough wood to have a fire that could be seen from space! With everyone enjoying the fire we had the raffle, I think everyone won something. MOVIE TIME! with the use of a projector and the side of a trailer we had a screen 12' X 8' to watch Dust to Glory on. Way Way too cool. I was able to sit by the fire, cook my dinner, watch a movie and enjoy my friends. After that there were a few night runs and JWH showed us with a little time and the right tools anything is possible. The next morning I awoke to the long faces of the sad off-roaders knowing the event was over. (Why can’t we find someone to pay us to stay out there!??!) We packed up and cleaned up the campsite leaving only foot prints and taking only photos.

Until next time...

See ya in the dirt.

My photos are posted. Nice to see everyone again this year. Seems I found myself in a "hole" a few times out there. It was soft (the sand) and I want to thank everyone for helping me out. Cannot believe it's over. Anticipation for weeks and now I have a swag bag and I got to win some tools at the raffle around the world's biggest campfire. Good people and good times. Oh yeah, and COLD beer. I had the truckers special for breakfast B4 heading back into town. Good truck stop coffee to brighten my Sunday.

Wow! What a fun weekend! I've never really done any "events" like this weekend, It was soo much fun and everybody was really laid back and relaxed. Even though I couln't participate in the "blue bra" I think I enjoyed it more watching everybody navigate the course! I really enjoyed racing the Mint 400, seeing the skydivers was a rare treat! and later that evening watching the movie. Another thing that really amazed me, is that I could move from one group of people to another and chit chat with everyone and feel welcome! Thanks, oh but don't feed the dogs LOL! you guys are on to something big here Thanks again for a fun weekend!

Ah, boys and girls, I had so much fun that I almost forgot to post the video of the Ford 4X4 being pulled from being stuck axle deep in the soft sand, and drug across the river bottom by our class 5 off road race car driver. Nothing like 50 foot sand rooster-tails being made to look easy.

Here it is: youtu.be/VVlKN7sdnrk

Thanks Ray
