Literally! I've been 4 wheeling and off roading for over 20 years. But I just bought my first "buggy" type car. Not even sure what it is. It's a real short stubby looking thing. It's a rail tho'. All I know is it's a dual port 1600. I'm mostly gonna use it for desert driving, hunting, and it's street legal so the possibilities are endless..... My 16 yr old is under the impression he gets to drive it to school. We'll see.

Anyway I was looking around for "stuff" and came across this site. Looks pretty neat. Hopefully I can score some valuble info!

Thanks guys, The guy I bought it from lives out of town so it's being delivered tomorrow. I kind of bought this on a whim. It was cheap and I don't want to spend a bunch of money and realize I like rock crawling in my blazer better.

I guess the biggest question I have is IRS REALLT that much better than a swing axle? Are ball joint front as bad as I've heard?

Everyone I've spoken with said you GOTTA have IRS and a link pin front. I just want to go fast and stop faster.

I'm learning the picture thing slowly, bear with me....

irs is better for articulation than swing and linkpin is better than balljoint (stronger). but if your not trashing your ride, your current setup will be fine for desert rides... Wink

OK, it was delivered today! We tried to crank it but the points were fried, the condensor was shot. It turned over without much complaining. The tires are all shot. The brake res. and MC are dead. The ignition switch was sketchy. The seats are ok but the covers were dead. The gas lines (rubber) were rock hard. Cap and rotor too.......... Gonna guess the carb is toast but we'll see. I'm gonna get it running tomorrow.

So all in all it's awesome. It's a hand built chassis. Pretty stout. Fits me to a TEE. Oh and it came with centerline wheels!

It's actually tied in pretty well with the steering column but you're right. 20 minutes of effortless work is worth it's weight in gold. Gonna make a rack for the rear over the gas tank so I'll just add a little more.
