ok, so say i have a swing axle bug, and say i have a irs bus, *can* i weld parts or the whole rear from my bus into my bug? if so, how can it be done?

i do not have an irs bus
i do not know if i can get one here in mexico (im in the investigation phase, and google has not helped me much so far, so i came here)
i DO have a swing axle bug
i DO not have a clue of what im saying

AND im shure most of you are north of the border, therefore having easy access to IRS bugs (even though im quite shure the bus rear end is stronger than a bug, so i'd perefer a bus irs RE over a bug irs RE anywhere [if its possible]) but even so, the post was worth a try :)

oh, and yea, ive found spanish posts of the subject,..... but i didnt find anything particularly usefull.

and one last thing before i post this: if you have ANY info on IRS Buses, please share :) links, documents, pictures ANYTHING :D

You could but the amount of work involved and no choice of torsion bars and weak inner pivot on the T-2 trail arms makes it worth it if you only have a welder and torch with more time than money. You can be premptive and make a straight inner pivot arm reinforcement.

I take it you have not bought the Building Baja and Buggies and a Bentley manual yet. They are the two best tools for your Baja.

ok, after one more google search, i finally found something usefull:

Google books

the only problem is that im not shure if i can get an irs bus here in mexico.

note pages 77-79, apparently a beetles irs system is better than a bus irs.

Now you know what to get him for Fathers Day. Smile
I'm not sure what the used in the Mexican Kombis. I do know some were water cooled.

yes, my parents actually had a "combi" (thats how they are called here in mexico, dont ask me why) but they "sold" it to a friend so he could fix it up really nice, and then buy it back once its ready to give it to my brother for a graduation present. but sadly that said friend passed away, and his wife doesnt want to sell it just to keep is as a memory of him.

well, anyways, sorry for the WoT, that said combi was about 90ish, and had the water cooled engine, if i see a large difference in power than a standard bug engine, i might use said engine (note that im not planning on using my familys combi, i wouldt tear that beauty apart, my dads friend did fix it up, but its currently being used as a mobil storage for office papers. u.u)

what i can remember at all, is the type of suspension it used.... i havent seen it up close since they gave it to him, and i cant just walk up and take a look at it.... im planning on visiting a junk yard and look for something next time i go to town (i live in a ranch 4 hours away from Hermosillo)

i love parenthesis, can you tell?
