what a great weekend... fantastic weather is in the works for next weekend too.

okay.. myself and scooby and his wife did a little scouting this weekend, and we discovered something ... there are alot of poeple out doing the same thing we were doing. the planned parking area/ campsite/ meeting place may change due to someone being in the planned spot. so... azv member dalton and myself are planning to get there as early as possible on friday. if anyone can help let me know. there is alot of options ... and of course we can make a spot.

as far as the trails, they are all great... we visited 3-4 mines, one of them had a purple crystal rock all around the mine hole just laying there to be found and picked up... which we did.... then later scooby drops the biggest rock ( small bowling ball size) on his foot..... smashing his big toe.

sorry no pics but come out next weekend and run some trails with us....there is of course the famous box canyon, martinez canyon, and the coke ovens all to explore.

mike

okay... here is the plan for now... it may change.....

look for a white paper plate with AZV and AZBAJA written on it.... there is a message board at the flag pole area( first turn off 79... parking area) the first camping area is 3 miles east, look for the plates or signs, i will be trying to get off work early enough to get out there.

i have some fire wood, should last till sunday, our first plan is to circle the campsites and have a central area to all sit at, please lets try to keep a group thing in mind, unless you snore or stink then we want you far away.

i cant wait.... rain or shine,.... this is going to be great.

Fun Fun Fun it ran the gamut from slow crawly (Box Canyon) to high speed dirt roads, with every thing in between! We even saw one of your pickups on the Spanish staircase a truck and side by side caught on fire and burned to the ground and I guess you and your friend got them. I bet they were fun to haul out of there, I'll try to put up a trail tail on our web site get better soon

another fantastic weekend for us... a little cool and a little wet at times but the off roading was perfect.
friday nite started out with dalton and jim and james allready in the campsite, waiting for the rest of us. next came pat and pam with their toyhauler and rail, then myself with my rail. my friends jay and dwan followed out in the dark, with their motorhome, then we started a fire.... then like a spooky movie out of the dark comes this rail..... its kenny and his son cody, they drove his rail out from the west side of phoenix!
with me in the back of my truck, kenny and son in tents, everyone else was inside.....

below is daltons rolling living room

this was jims cabover and trailer and james had the enclosed trailer

belive it or not this is what kenny and cody brought to sleep in.... kenny in a tent and cody in this 2 piece army pup tent.

following pics are all from a run thru box canyon...

and look even girls (wifes pam and dwan) ((and no i didnt misspell dwan))

soon after this picture was taken, a small down pour hit us as we raced home.... 55 mph and light rain.... burrrrrr

the following pics are all of martenz canyon...after a rain the rocks were clean of dust and the colors were incredible.

believe it or not, the only damage for the whole weekend was my new gps fell out of my pocket and i ran over it.... damn it.... lol
my camera ran out of memory so these are the only pics i have..... but .... dalton has rolling movies of the canyon runs. cant wait to see them.

i would like to thank everyone who came out for making it a great weekend.

and we have another play day/weekend allready in the works. stay tuned for details. it will be a car camp.... woo hoo

mike
