who is the radio/communication guru?

after this last weekends run to crown king i can see the need for a radio in my rail. what radio is the best? or maybe i should ask for a good better and best kinda answer. i am looking for a handheld with remote mike.

what channels/freq. are you on and where to buy one.

perri offered me a radio last weekend but i didnt want to loose it or break it. i hate breaking other peoples stuff but dont mind breaking mine.

other than that the run was great and will go next year .... got some good pics and couple of movies i will try to post.

mike

we run the uhf radios because we got so tired of jerks on the cb messing around with us and there only good for a few miles on flat land these new radios are awsome I've been at the cinders in Flagstaff and talked to clubbers in Flagstaff thats far! plus since we have our own frecuency no one else can break in, some in our club also run headsets with an intercom setup so you can talk with your passenger, call out, recieve a call or listen to music all in your headset no external noises like engines or tires! really neat

Excuse my ignorance.. but is UHF considered under the CB airwaves then? If so, whats the difference between just standard 27 mhz CB and the UHF? What makes it less likely to be played with by other CB guys. Is it just more expensive equipment or something?

Hmm I'll have to google it or something... I mean really any jerk can fire up a 100watt transmitter and set any frequency and everyone trying to use that frequency in a pretty large area is screwed..

Was just curios what made UHF less vulnerable to that. Maybe a line of sight issue.
