Hey I just found a 66 Baja around the corner from my house. The car is for sale for $400, all I need is the rims on it and the title, the body and fiberglass parts are PERFECT and in primer gray. I was wondering if there was anyone here that was looking for a new body. The pan has the one hole in the batery area, but that is it. Obviously, I need the VIN so it would only be good for parts as far as the pan goes. I was wondering if there was someone here that would be interested in splitting the price of the car, again, all i need are the rims, master cyclinder and vin/title. If anyone is willing to make a deal, or maybe just buy the extra parts from me let me know 607-316-5085

Oh yeah I also need the front brakes, so I guess the pan is pretty much done. Even just a little help with the price should be worth a perfect baja body... I mean the chasis is pretty much worthless once i strip what I need, but the body on the other hand only needs paint...

BEfore you buy it go to the DMV website to make sure it is not stolen.
Also ask what it costs these day to do a bonded title.

yeah i actually already stopped in to talk to them a few minutes ago... The guy is actually gonna deliver the vehicle for me, so we are going to stop at a title place to get the paperwork into my name and is there a difference between a bonded title and a regular title??

He must have the title if that is going to happen. Without a title the DMV first checks to see if it is stolen. If it is not stolen then you pay a bond fee and issued a bonded title to pay the original owner if he / she claims it.
Don't give any money until you are sure it is not stolen.

NOPE ITS CLEAR... We went to the DMV together and I already have the title in my name... Turns out it has sat in his yard since june 98... Its now in my storage unit/garage. It needs tires, but the Jackman style (not sure if they are real) rims are in great shape, body is almost perfect and in primer gray, got the normal rust spot in the battery area, tank looks new, new brake master cylinder and all the wiring is there, shifting linkage is hooked and works great, throttle cable is there and in great shape, ebrake works perfect... I am picking up the sand rail tomorrow, it has a 1776 that I will use for now as well as the peddle assembly that is missing in the beetle. When it is all together and registered, then ill start saving up for a complete cage and suspension upgrade... Ill post pictures tomorrow! I was too busy playing with the car all evening to take any Very Happy

The red flag went up when you said all it needs is rims and a title. Confused I thought you meant it had no title. Get that rail going and lets go for a ride. Smile

no no no the rail has no rims or a title hahaha, I decided to go with a baja and Im using the engine and such from the rail to build the baja... The title from the rail was sold before I bought it (including the vin sticker), I have been looking around to see if any rails like that were missing and havent found anything. So Im pretty confident that its not stolen... AS FAR AS A RIDE, IF EVERYTHING WORKS OUT THE THING WILL BE ON THE ROAD BY THE END OF NEXT WEEK Very Happy

Slow down a bit. Smile I was refering to this statement you made about the Baja:

"Hey I just found a 66 Baja around the corner from my house. The car is for sale for $400, all I need is the rims on it and the title"

Rails are easier to title all you need is a bill of sales.

ahhh hmm i guess i did say that, i think i was refering to the fact that i wanted to make sure the title was the right one... I did that and yes the rail is easy to title but the inspection process to make it road legal is a pain hahaha so Im just gonna sell the rail

No pain no gain. Very Happy You might PM two seater beater as they gave him plates with just a bill of sales and two kc lights. It would make the rail real easy to sell.
