hi there, i am a n00b in all aspects (the only thing i know how to do is crash) lol

im looking into getting myself my first car, and i like VWs. Especialy bajas Smile

well, i googled a bit and i found this site:

www.bluegrassghostinve...m/baja.htm

i know this site gives me a step by step guide, but it looks like it does not aim for a daily driver....and thats what i need...(some offroading, but not extreme, no jumps, no sand dunes, just the occational puddle dryer and mud mess :D)

well i need all the advice i can get please,

posibly a list of things i have to get for performance, starting from must have to optional.

this is the look i want to get :

oh and one more thing.... i saw a 5 spoke rim, but i only saw it on 5 bolts....what do i need to get to put a 5 spoke?

my price range should be around 1500 to 2500 not including the car itself

As far as getting the 5 bolts, there is a few options. Older VW drums, or they have converter plates for 4-5 bolt and 5-4 bolt. I have seen that site and it is pretty good, but I wouldn't plan on literally calling it good in a day, just because of labor time and you'll probably run into a problem or 2 along the way.

My .02 is that for what you're going for, get a fiberglass body kit (a few to choose from) and consider like that site shows and put yer front fenders on the back. Get a skidplate, baja exhaust, some bigger tires, front and back bumpers and call it good! The lightbar could wait, it's not necessary for operation. Might consider some aftermarket shocks too- some basic gas filled ones aren't too expensive. Chech craigslist A LOT for good deals on parts, especially body parts. Best of luck to you, hope I didn't miss anything.

I should mention too, that the bigger your tires, the slower you will go- My 1641 pushes 31's and 29's (or something close to) and does great, fast even, until 50MPH, where it just about tops out, haha. Running a stock transmission at the moment too though.

yeah, i also supposed that i wouldnt finish in a day (i was planning on a few weeks actually)

will the bobtail stinger exhaust make a loud noise?

i like noise, but i want to actually hear the radio or have a converstion without shouting....and it seems that the stinger exhaust adds a lot to the look...

about the fenders, im guessing i will just cut them like this guy did, i like that look better that the one i would get with the fiberglass kits..

do you know any substitute for the General Grabbers AT he used in the front wheels? i like those, but i dont know where to get them in Nogales. I can get the Super Swampers at desertrat.com but they dont carry GB.

Welcome to AZBAJA. Use a Trimil with a muffler. The police will not notice you. Just cross the border for some 700 15 Goodyear Surburbana offroad tires.
