this might sound a little dumb since i dont know the proper names for the parts or stuff, but, i believe that vw buses have a 5 lug pattern (correct me if im wrong)

can i fit the *drum*(i really dont know that these are called :$....anyways they are the piece that the wheel attaches too) can i fit from a bus into a bug? so it changes the 4 lug to a 5 lug pattern?

if i cant, which ones do i have to get that fit? and i have seen some but they are a tad out of my price reach :/.....im trying to find one that i can take off a old car, (in some junkyard)

ps: i see some 5 spoke wheels in chirco.com, which are probably the ones im going to get, but i didnt find the size of the lug pattern.....so, the *drum* should have the pattern to match those wheels...

The 4 lug bug is 4 on 130mm The wide 5 lug pattern is 5 on 205mm and 5 lug vanagon is 5 on 112. I dont believe you can fit a bus drum on a bug because the bus has a larger spline on the rear and different size bearings up front.

As far as converting 4 lug to 5 lug the you can use a set of wheel adapters but I personally dont like them, or expensive disc brake conversion. There may be other ways but I dont know what they are.

If you have a 68 & up bug (not a super beetle) you can use the front drums from a 66 or 67 bug and they will bolt right on. On the rear you have 2 options, you can find drums from a 73 or 74 thing and they are a direct bolt on, they are a little spendy though. You can use the 66 & earlier bug drum, but you will have to use a spacer between the nut and drum becasue the snout is shorter.

The steal 4 to have plates are stonger than the rim and most front end parts. I would not worry about them.

Just make sure you o not buy the cheap cast ones

Thats the ones Eric(AzBaja) is talking about. I was with him when he bent a spindle, and the adapter didnt give at all. He has been running those adapters for at least 15 years, probably longer.

Just make sure and use nine 14 mm studs and T-2 lug nuts.

Yes the 4 to 5 adapters are stronger than your rims and other front end parts, Trust me on that.

What do you guys think of these...?

www.chircoestore.com/c...u4b2vadel6

It would be so much more convinient to have the same bolt pattern as my brother's ranger and there are alot more possibilities for wheels I can buy
