Some pics and info:
I talked to Daryll about my need for a new tow bar. I tow the Baja a lot. I needed to be able to hook up quickly, often in the dark. I've gotten too old and, to be honest, too fat to crawl up under the Baja to pin the traditional tow bar. My old bumper was a joke and was literally held on with sheet metal screws. I wanted to be able to drop the Baja quickly and be able to drive it with the tow bar on and I wanted the Baja to tow about a foot further back from the tow vehicle.

Daryll suggested using a Super Beetle towbar as it had the lugs for connecting to a tow plate. I like the way he mounted the bumper with a clamp on mount for the bottom tube and a flanged/bolted mount welded to the shock tower.

It's been said before that Daryll is good to work with. I'm very happy with this job and plan to use Daryll again.

right now I just turn the park lights on to tow. The aftermarket Chinese flashers I'm using didn't like it when I tied the tow lights into it. I don't use a rear bumper on my Baja. I'm going to mount LED trailer light looking tail lights onto the rear bumper and use it for towing.

Neat hold downs that Daryll made from plate and half loops (maybe a half chain link?) and mounted on the package tray. I'm able to strap down the spare, fire extinguisher, tow rope, and a mostly, so far, empty 20mm ammo can for tools and spare parts. Used a 2" ratcheting strap from Home Depot.

That tow bar gave me one heck of an idea. You gave me my long awaited answer as to how to get my Baja from place to place. I sold a 20 foot closed in Haulmark to finish the motor. Sold my one ton truck too. It cost me too much to drive the car long distance...lol. Is there any need to beef up my bumper to do this? I'v tied the Baja down on an open flat car hauler using the front bumper. It seems very sturdy. Sure seems an easy way to get it around. Pleas, anybody with the knowledge...tell me if I need to anything else besides adapt a tow bar. Let me know if you need some close ups of the front showing how it is bolted up?
