Years ago (yes I'm an old fart) you could buy two brake handles that would mount on either side of the hand brake, which would, if pushing them individually, operate the parking brake on whichever wheel it was attached. I want one of these for my Baja. Does anyone know where I could find one (new or used) that would work like this? I don't want a $100 hydraulic job!

It worked best for light Dune Buggies. Empi may still sell them. The problem that arises is safety. You no longer have a functional emergency brake.

Why not? Have the turning brake handles to the side of the e-brake handle and pull the cable at a point "above" the e-brake handle. Retain the e-brake handle and have a couple tabs on it pull up both turning brake handles simultaneously. You'd have dual functionality, right? I had actually planned on doing this to my new car, please tell me if my thinking is way off...

Kyle

Not true with the BugPack model as the individual handles mount above the regular E-brake and just pull each cable individually. Then when you pull the regular E-brake handle, it pulls both of them. I was able to find a used one on Craig's list, but it is not yet installed - too far down on the priority list. All I expect to do with it is to stop a spinning wheel if I get stuck. It should do just fine at that, especially if I lube the hell out of the cables where the go under the E-brake so that they can slide through the E-brake handle. I got my regulator installed this weekend along with my pop-outs (what a pain!), and the rear fg cover, adjusted the brakes and drove around the block! Very Happy

I have all wheel disc and no e-brake. If you have to stop real fast with no brakes down shift to 2nd or 1st then turn off the key.

Just do not park it on a hill it will compreshion roll some times.
