Dragged it home today. I'll get closeups of the shock mounts ect. tomorrow. had to leave for work. Bugzilla does some great work, for a great price.

gonna spend all weekend getting the motor running, anyone have any tuning tips for the Ford 2.3?

Just a few little things, then going camping in snowflake for memorial weekend, as a shakedown run.

It ran tonight, however briefly. I think the tank needs some more gas in it.. wohoo, I'll get her going in the AM.

well I had it running a bit today. but it won't be ready for the camping trip I'm going on this weekend.

It has an oil leak from the crankshaft seal, and a couple other dribbles elswhere I need to fix.

brake lines arn't tied down yet

needs a longer throttle cable

and so on. thats ok, it ran for a few minutes in the garage, set of the smoke alarm, and was not as loud as I feared. so I feel better now having put some life into the thing.

well got some assistance from bugzylla and Sean, but the damage seems to have been done.

the oil leak isn't scary bad anymore, but the rear main seal, and the cam shaft seal are both leaking still, although much more slowly after unhooking my exhaust crankcase pressure system.

so I guess I gotta lift the motor up to pull the oil pan, and the rear main seal.

grrr, maybe I'll cut my cage, and put flanges in so I can unbolt the part from under the engine.

Hey Ken you dont have to drop the pan for the rear seal but you do have to pull the flywheel. Your engine is a 1pc rear main. The cam seal is easy. The ford 2.3 need to have a PCV valve hooked to it. I didnt check yours to see if you still have the correct peices for a PCV system or not. You need to have A PCV hooked to the beather box on the side of the block. And then the valve cover should have a breather tube running to the air cleaner. If not it will be hard to ever get the 2300 to not leak oil.
I would work on the PCV system befor pulling the engine.
Good luck
Shawn

ok, I have the breather box under the intake, and on the valve cover. but no hookup on the airfilter. it runs to the header now. I'll look into getting an airbox fitting hooked up soon.

to pull the flywheel, am I better off sliding the trans forward? or sliding the motor back?

thanks for the help guys, couldn't do this without you.

well this project just took a bit of a slowdown. I got laid off tonight, and will probably be going back to school full time starting in a few weeks.

wohoo, I guess. it is what it is anyway, and fortunately I have the GI bill to help pay for everything.
