Anyone have experience with one of these? I am building/rebuilding my'69 baja using a really nice and straight '66 body and removing my spun aluminum tank from the rear package area and replacing it with a stock tank and am thinking about trying this 16 gallon one. Any thoughts? It is only about 10 bucks difference from the stock size
Long Range 16 Gallon Fuel Tank
Thanks

whats a stock tank hold ?
i dont see any draw back from going larger, other than carrying more weight over the front tires....

I think about 10 gallons. I am not sure if the added weight would make much differnce

They used to make these bitchin 22 gallon tanks that replaced the passenger's seat. I wish I had one of those.

I currently run a 12 gallon tank in the package tray area, and appreciate the extra fuel. I'd do it.

Of course, mine only gets about 12 MPG on a good day, and probably half that when my foot gets heavy on the trail.

I've got the XL tank (I think it's 15 gals) up front and I can mount the spare up there too. I don't jump my Baja so I don't think the forward weight makes that much difference.

Is the extra size on the top side? I notice there is not a long filler neck.
Your wiring looks great is that one of those easywire harnesses?

Yes, extra on top. Makes the sending unit incorrect , but to the good side. Empty still means gallons left. Wiring is Watson's Street Works. Not cheap, but nice.

I saw a post on Chirco that was saying you may bend the float rod to correct this

I wish I saw that before buying a stock tank. I would do it, especially if your not gonna jump it.

A gallon or so cushion I agree with but I am thinking it might be more like 3-5 . I can already see me say I know it shows empty but it still has a few gallons then taking the walk with gas can in hand.... lol
