I went out today for some offroading after drill, and it is now patently apparent to me that I am driving at and beyond the limits of my suspension. I regularly bottom the rear, and the front. I am running dual Gas-Adjust shocks in the rear with a stock (plus one) IRS shockmount setup. Cut and turned stock LP beam up front.

I will be adding one more spline of preload to the bars next weekend, but I think I need to do some modification.

As it is now, the trailing arms themselves are bottoming hard on the shock/body towers. I have no stock snubber. I need to put a urethane snubber on there...

My question is, can I run my perfectly OK stock CV joints and stock length axles with 1x1 or stock x 1 boxed arms? I think a 3 x 3 setup is a little bit of a financial reach, but I wnt to continue driving harder like I am. I am thrashing my poor trailing arms right now.

Any experience with this?

Jeff

I will also do the warrior 6" wider front with 10" towers soon.

thats the problem alot of us have. the only way to get better suspension is to pay for coil overs and lose the torsion bars front and rear...$$$ and or go a-arm... Sad

What size torsion bars are you using in the rear? If you are not already... you could use the longer bars and go up to a 27 or 28mm dia.

As far as I know, they are stock bars. When I add some preload I will take a look.

I was considering boxed arms, as I am reasonably sure I am bending my arms. I don't mind going with stock x 1 arms (Good enough for class 5 /1600...) but will stock CVs be OK?

You guys are both right. I should just accept the hard fact that speed costs money.

How fast do I want to spend??

I hit 65mph in the desert yesterday....whoopsie. That sounds like $$$$$.

Smile
