first an introduction
im chad im 22 years old this is my first baja bug more less custom build. ive been off-roading for well over 6 years (on 4 wheels) im a open person with a thick skin. please feel free to make opinions and suggestions clear i would like to hear it take it into consideration and hopefull i can take a little from everone thats already done this and build a car thats mine and will work well.
so far i have had 2 vw's in the process of building one the first pictured below was rusted toroughout so i took the motor and all the parts off and sent it to pasture then picked up a 64 rooler for free and thats the car im building now.

started here

second car all cut up

ass it sits this afternoon

got all the parts for the IRS conversion with 3x3's

Welcome aboard to the world away from TOS! This is a great site and everyone here is pretty cool (except that 350x guy... watch out for him). Put up a thread in the SoCal section. It's new,so there are not many posts there yet. You were at the first SoCal meeting, so I guess you're one of the Founding Fathers.

Fellas, this is a good guy. He's off to a good start on his project, too! I hope to see it in person soon.

Welcome again xj!

thats what im shooting for! soon im already itching to play with it! and the rear wheels aren't even in the same room yet! ha ha

if ya wanna come check it out you could always save me the gas and deliver the trans!

i ordered the front 6over beam leaves and 2.5 arms today so i should be able to pick those up with the spring plates next week! so hopefully will have the trans in before the end of the month with the rear cage... still waiting on fuel cell before i can go to far on the design on the cage....... but i can get the front done if i dont have the cell.... all depends on how the cards play out!

any opinions on how far is a good distance to stretch the front with the 2.5inch arms and 7.00R15's? i was thinking in the neighborhood of 5 inches.?

my xj hasnt moved in weeks the poor thing i blew the rear end (after years of abuse) and being it runs on 91 octane and above only its not looking like its gonna move for some time cause i cant see spending the money on her if i cant afford to drive her.... some day i will move her again. might have to yank the stroker motor with less than 8000 miles on it and sell it so i can build a low octane motor.
