yeah that is what i heard that you get about 25 or so mpg
that is one of the reasons that i want to get a baja is becasuse they are so good on gas and the prices of gas the way that they are going is crazy. i want to get a jeep but if i do a lift and big tires i will get like 12mpg and a baja is like 25mpg kinda going back and forth what do you guys think

24-28 IF I drove it like a old lady. Usually 24. What sucks is driving a stock 66 Bus, getting 18mpg, sweating your gonads off and getting into a air conditioned TownCar that gets 21mpg at 75mph.
VW's ain't the thing for mileage. They used to be, that was eons ago, and gas was only 19.9 then.

well thanks for the ideas about mpg. i was getting about 18 before i rebuilt the carb. now i think it's getting better. any who next year after i get back from iraq i'll have the money for my 1835dp. now comes the question... do i put single/ dual carbs or go for fi. i found a 69 squareback at our local salvage yard. it's about 90% complete fi motor. i was told that once the cars get into the yard the only way tghey leave is in pieces. Evil or Very Mad damm my luck

I did see (and this will probably bring up the old arguments again, so search for the old threads and invest yourselves)a 1-2mpg increase when I switched to Mobil One. I think the blunt nose of a baja, increased air drag underneath, all contribute to so so mileage.

For you ford 2.3 guys I get 30 mpg freeway and 22mpg around town with my 85 thunderbird Very Happy Im sure with the right gearing a 2.3 in a bug would do really well around town.
