Very Happy Yup with big "53"s race stripes and all. This project is in the third week, hope to be done in another two weeks. I used a plasma arc cutter, airchisel, die grinder and dremel tool to remove both floor pans, the heater channels and associated rust in the wheel arches etc. javascript:emoticon('post', 'message', ':AzSummer:')
Hot Then I put patches where required and nailed them in place with the MIG. My new floor pans are resting in place until the heater channels arrive and I can weld all that in. Meanwhile we have collected new seat covers, floor mats, seat belts, window rubbers and headliner.
"Herbie" is a '62 sedan, hard roof, with I believe to be a '73 bus engine, so far I haven't been able to nail down the engine serial number but I'm sure someone can do that. Rolling Eyes
TIP: Ever cursed at masking tires so you can paint the rims? Most hardware stores carry a little tool used for putting the rubber splines in screen doors to hold the screen in. This gadget is a handle with 1" wheels at both ends. It works wonders for tucking the tape in under the edge of the rim. The opposite end will cut away excess tape for a perfect masking job. Smile Hot Hot Hot

Although I prefer Baja's I look forward to seeing the finished project. Afterall, I think the movie: Herbie was my first inspiration to the VW madness. Very Happy

I heard years ago to smear Vaseline on the tire sidwall to mask the rubber. Never tried it though- seems like it would work good though. Just wipe it off after you paint!
