Post Post subject: 64 sedan with 22r

I am looking into buying another sedan, but for the street this time. I found one that doesn’t have a motor and I just happen to have a freshly rebuilt Toyota 22r sitting on a stand in my garage. I had already planed to use this motor with a VW trans so I all ready have the adapter and clutch components. my question is..... is it at all possible to fit an inline 4 cylinder under the deck lid without going to mid-engine? Ground clearance, weight and the need for a radiator are things I can figure out. My only concern is making it fit. Extending the rear apron/decklid maybe. Or possible moving the whole drivetrain foward (by shortening the pan) to get the rear of the body over the engine. Any thoughts????

I've seen Corvair air-cooled 6 cylinder's in bugs before. Many people just cut off the bottom half of the engine cover. I've also seen some attempts to fabricate a cover for the extra motor, but most of them look like an abortion on wheels...

That yellow car turned out sweeeeet. Two things- that motor is quite a bit smaller than a 22r in displacement- might be physically as well. Second, I'll bet it sucks when he does have to work on the motor- that thing is shoehorned in there!

Way cool though.
