ok as i have already said,i am planning a new baja project...i am goin to pick up a tubing bender, new chop saw,and get my bottles filled when i get home, and as always when i buy a new tool i have to "test it out" wich usually turns into a year long project.....but anyway i am wanting to build a a-arm setup like the "bolt on" one being discussed her on azbaja......i was just wondering, what size heim jouints should i use, this car is goin to be a dailydriver/weekend warrior kina thing,so it is not gunna be jummping dunes/lakes,rivers,houses ? anyway u get the idea....just need an idea on the joints needed, and what is the proper "rake" in degreez for a a-arm setup ?so's not to have "bump steer"....and how do i decide how to place my shoks ?like what angle/where at on the arm.any help would be great,i promise to keep ya'll up to date,if i get enuff info to get this off the ground

Sounds like fun, but if you won't be doing any "jummping dunes/lakes,rivers,houses " why do you need the a-arm setup? Don't get me wrong, I would really like them too.

There are sooooooooooooooooo many threads on the a-arm subject. Everyone has an idea and a question. If you look around you will find pictures of some funky attempts at the a arm and you will find some class road proven suspensions built by people who have been at it a long time. On "TOS" you can find alot of discusion and not much action on the subject. If "I" was to go this route I will rely on a racer that builds and drives his design. Race Awards Page

Interesting how he put adjusters on the limiting straps, and it even looks like there's still a piece of the beam incorporated into the design.

The adjuster "clevis" is to take up the slack in the limit strap as it stretches. SDHQ sells them for ~27.00 each; about the same as McKenzie's.

The beam is there so it can be bolted into a stockish Baja. It is a very well thought out deal.

i have all the tools i need i'm sure and can get what i dont have, but just looking at the setup above,i can't tell that there is any rake at all to the setup,i was under the impression that u had to have your suspention tilting slitly bak so that the suspention was "shoked" away from the bump thus eliminating what we no as "bump steer"......other than needing to no what size heims i need i think i could totaly pull this off.....i mean everyone had to start somewhere rite ? BLC guys didn just wake up one morning knowing how to build lifted spindals,cages,4x5's,and all the other trick stuff they do...did they ? but i really wanna have a go at this so if its at all possibal, drop me a few pointers,or if u no of a road blok i'm gunna have....warm me.....i dont want a "hand out" just a helping hand....untill next time thanks azbaja and all its members

so u think that would be enuff tilt to let the tires arch over the bump instead of get jolted by it ?if so i just gotta get hom eand get started that was my biggest concern.....ya'll think 1 1/2 inch 120. wall would be about rite ? i think thats what has been used for most stuff like this.thanx 1fasthoe you didn have to go do all that....but it really did help...
