Well doesn't that suck!! I won't be bidding more than what I've submitted, because I feel another will come up eventually and I didn't need it right away.

Good luck!

So I lied, I bid so he had to pay $2 more for it.

Oh well, another will come up. A friend gave me a different one to use anyways.

Damn guys. I was nice and stayed out of the bidding. I should have bought them both. I told you what I paid for mine. They go for more than they both sold for. The same guy bought 'em both, and you can bet your butt that he's going to resell them. I've seen them as high as $225.00 before.

Oh well.

I'll keep my eyes open for ya.

Well, couldn't resist a 2003 Xterra 4x4 with 76000 Miles that I saw on Craigslist and purchased it outright. The price was right at $7550.

So this sets back the bug plans a little as I need to buy all the stuff to make it a wheeler, but still going to hang around here now and then and pickup on your ideas and thoughts.

I'm hoping to drag the bug out next weekend to see if it's going to run or crap out. Still haven't got the guages all working as I need to hit Daryl up for helping me get the senders, just haven't the time right now. Thanks for the help in advance.

I found some wiring that I did in my younger years that was getting very hot (too hot to touch) and glad I found it, corrected it.

Here's a pic from a test drive to Flagstaff after getting some new shoes, went with the 265/75R16 Firestone Destination A/T's, about one inch over stock. It won't look like this forever, I plan on getting the full Shrockworks setup. Sliders, skids and bumpers. Then I'll have to get torsion bars, steering stuff.... and the list goes on!

Anyways, thanks and I'll see you around.

Sorry it's been a while since I checked in at the site. I've been chasing issues with the Xterra wanting to overheat. Fixed it and now the new Radiator is leaking. Warranty will cover a replacement, but still a PIA.

Baja, has undergone new wiring, senders to the guages and wow, a working speedo! It's great piece of mind knowing the condition of Oil, temp, etc. I was really hoping to get out to Table Mesa and run it, but with other issues and life in general, not possible.

Still have a few wires to hook up, and a fuel sender that needs adjustment, not to mention odds and ends, but I'll get out there soon, hopefully when the weather cools off a bit more.

See ya around and glad to see the site is still up and running.

Glad to see the .com site is back.

Just an update, finally took the Baja out to Table Mesa area and got it warmed up sorta. Did only a little running up and down the roads and one good hill climb over by the mud pit (Right side) if you're familiar with the area.

I'm amazed at the traction the Destination M/T's gave me and show very little signs of rock abrasion or missing rubber. Couldn't be happier with the rubber and the size I bought is perfect for its gearing. The snow tires on the front are great too. I went through just a little mud and they cleared perfectly. On road they seem to tow fine at 60-65. I'm sure they will wear out quickly, but with the low weight of the Baja, they will probably dry rot first, especially as often as I've gotten it out.

I found a couple more projects to do to it after my outing. Wiring still needs some TLC to be reliable off-road. Made a hold-down bracket for the battery. Skid plate fabbed up and put on, just needs paint. LATCH anchors partly done for the kid seats. Need to finish welding the Roll cage in as it vibrates off-road more than I like.

Once I get everything done, I need to hit a trail. I'll be watching for stuff to come up and hopefully can tag along.

Thanks, oh I forgot, no pictures, forgot the camera and all my other friends weren't able to make it so there wasn't another camera there. Sucks because I need a profile pic!

Quick update: I found out today, my insurance company doesn't insure cars older than 1984, huh? OK, so we are looking around and have my old Allstate agent doing comparables for us. Currently I just switched from Metlife (SUCKS!) to Countrywide.

What sucks worse, is I cut down a tree that was right up against my house for the last o-40 years or so to satisfy the new insurance company who threatened to cancel my policy because of it. I have a couple of Arizona Ash trees coming from MoonValley nursery to be Delivered 03/23 so my yard won't look naked and I can get some shade in a year or so.

Another suck, I have a 1994 Nissan P/U with 195/75/r14 (Currently has 27X8.5xr14) and noone seems to carry a truck tire in this size anymore. I have to do some calling around, but I've already exhausted two places TirePro's and Firestone who wanted to sell me on a car tire. Taking more time than I wanted.

Anyways, I'm around and will get insured and on the trail hopefully soon!

All small trucks and even 1/2 ton trucks have "P" tires on them from the manufacturer. Only if the tires have been replaced are they "LT" tires. PM me and I will try to find the tire you want for a good price.

DONT, thanks for the offer, I think I've found what will work through Firestone, but it is just a passenger tire that is Mud/Snow rated. The PS830/850 Primewell for $34.75 Ea Plus everything else and tax.

The truck is a P195/75/R14 and has currently 27/8.50/R14LT on it, neither of which comes in an All Terrain tire anymore. The load rating of the truck is about 2200LBS and the new tires are about 1300LBS each, so they should be adequate, but may not hold up off road. Especially if I have them aired down and go over rocks. And have them loaded. I don't want to be stuck with a load and a flat tire. Certifications will not help in this case.

I'm going to call Firestone later and if that falls through I'll give you a PM to look around for me.

Thanks again.
Adam

I ended up getting the Primewell P195/75/R14 tires from Firestone for about $34 ea, but you know with ballancing warranties and everything, it was about $270.

The guy said the tires that were on it were trailer tires.

Possibly so, I thought the steering was horribly worn out, but now it drives smooth, straight and like a dream, whole new truck. Love it.

Now for the Bug: 66 Baja stock wiring plus rednecking here and there, converted from 6V to 12V.

I've got a new problem and I've done just about everything but tear apart the Speedometer. Checked/cleaned ground cable to battery and where it bolts in the stock location. Added a separate ground wire. Added battery charger to bring the voltage up as the battery only had exactly 12V. Added power from charger directly on guage positive.

You're wondering what I chasing? My Speedometer seems to function, but the odometer fades in and out and is not visible most of the time, even while driving the speedo is reading and appears to be accurate enough for me, but the Odometer just comes and goes. Nothing seems to be making any effect.

Any ideas?

I think I'll try and disconnect the battery and run the guages directly from my charger to see if there is higher voltage and the problem changes.

Grasping now and about to disassemble the guage to see what could be wrong, vibration caused something to come loose, moisture damage, etc.

Still haven't fixed the guage, but it was working long enough to get the Odo reading for insurance, which brings me to my rant.

I've been driving since I was about 16 and got my first car at 18, never had an accident that was my fault except for my rollover in my '05 Xterra almost two years ago and I'm 36. Come to find out, that really is screwing me on insurance, which is more than Double what it would have been. ~$500/Yr through Progressive.

So I bought a 6 mo policy for now and we'll see where I am in Oct if I can afford to renew it.

Which leads me to my next problem, when I parked my bug, I de-insured/de-registered it so as to avoid any penalties. Low and behold I get on ServiceArizona and they want $100! for the penalty.

Here's my question if any of you know the answer, a couple of times in the past I was able to sign an Affidavit that said in effect that the vehicle wasn't being used on the streets and they would wave the penalty. ANYONE know what that form was called?

I'm going down to DMV tomorrow and want to try and avoid the penalty and could use the name of that form. It'll save me $100.

SOoo close now, I'm just bummed again, another bump in the road. I'll check back before leaving for the DMV. So any help is appreciated.
