When you checked the timing, did you static time it or use a timing light?

With the 009's you need to set it's full advance with a timing light at about 3000RPM. The only real downside to the 009 dizzy is a small flatspot.

Another thing, is it a new 009? I would verify the points are good and within spec.

If you did only do static time, then you definetly need to check it with a timing light. The 009 dizzys tend to fluctuate in there timing advance. The static time is just a ball park to get the car running. You need to check it with a timing light at 3000 rpm's and set it to 28* (I beleive). Tighten it up and leave it be.

I'm a big fan of the electronic points as opposed to the mechanical ones. Their a bit pricey but SO worth it in my opinion. No more adjusting every 500 miles Smile

I was wondering if they made something like an HEI upgrade for those dizzys. Do you have a link?

Pertronix makes one for the 009

and the stock vacuum advance distributors

Or you can go with a multiple spark discharge ignition which will give you a more complete fuel burn and more hp
