Just got ahold of the place. He was very inconvenienced by me calling him. He said he doesn't have time to return phone calls or fax's.

I hope his service turns out to be better than his customer interfacing skills.

Just wanted to let y'all know that now the ITS place charges $550 (five hundred and fifty) to do a title for your car.

Anyone else have a way to get a title thats a bit cheaper. Apparently after all is said and done, a bonded title comes in at around $300. Still a bit steep if you ask me.

OUCH! Wow. I think I paid under $200 a couple years ago.

Here in Arizona Getting a Bonded Title is EASY. Ive done it plenty of times.I take the car in to the DMV,have the Class I Inspection performed(they verify the VIN,Condition of the vehicle and that its not stolen)

Then They give you the checklist of things to do.First thing is a title search($3 or $4 ) If the vehicle has been off the records for 7 years,it gets purged. Theres no history, noone to write a letter to to request a title from. The DMV sets the bond, you take that info to an insurance company. My insurance company charges $100 regardless what the DMV says the value is.

I take the bond back to the DMV,Pay I think another $4 and I get a bonded title. SIMPLE!!

Now if the title search comes back with the last registered owner, then you have to write them a certified letter requesting a title. Which of course can cause a little problem,as they could always try to come reclaim the vehicle.

***NOW PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY***

Purchase a car from out of state and bring it to az with no title, getting a bonded title is a snap!!!

For example:

I purchase a car in Texas with no title. I want to obtain a title in AZ for said vehicle. When you take the car tyo the DMV for inspection. DO NOT let the DMV know its from out of state(read on and youll understand why) REMOVE the out of state license plates prior to the inspection.

The DMV will verify the VIN and that its not stolen, then comes the title search. The title search is only for Az titles and registrations. So the vehicle will NEVER show up in the AZ database on the title search since it was purchased in Texas. There will be noone to write a letter to to request a title, the AZ DMV will set the bond value, you go buy the bond ,take it to the DMV they cut you a title and your home free!!!

Now the reason you dont want the AZ DMV to know it was purchased out of state? Because then you have to contact that state to do the title search. You may end up needing to contact the last registered owner in that state and they may want their car back!!

I just purchased a 72 BUG with a title. Is there any way I can register the car under my name without needing an inspection? The car is not running (needs a ton of work). I’ve had it for 2 weeks and have not notified the DMV yet.
And is there any way I can get it exempted from emissions testing?

You can go to any DMV and change the title into yuor name. Just explain that car is not running and they will do a title only without registering it.

I have heard but not confirmed that a new law passed the AZ senate that will allow all cars 74 & earlier to be emissions exempt somewhere around the end of the year. I will check on that and see if I can verify. If not you can get collector car insurance and then your exempt. But you must have another car that is your "daily driver" to get the collector insurance.

i think they charge 100$ after 15 days if you havent transfered the title yet, if the title is in AZ.
