looking to get a wire feed welder for my garage. I'm looking to get something that is sufficient to handle any job on my 66 baja bug. Any suggestions as what to get as far as power goes? Lookin to spend around the $300-350 range. Thanks all!

I say save up $200 add it to the $350 and get a small 125amp welder w argon shielding gas. don't waste money on a cheesy flux core welder.the flux core welders do not work..... I use a snap-on 120amp. but all the other brands do just as good or better. good luck

Lincoln makes some good inexpensive welders. They are very reliable and parts and supplies are available anywhere. But I am with scott, dont be cheap, buy a good 220 volt welder with gas (I use 75/25 co2 argon mix cuz its cheaper) and you will be happier in the long run. I used to have a 110 volt lincoln flux core, and wished I had saved a little more and got a better one, so I eventually ended up with a MAC Tools 150 amp (made by miller).

I bought a flext core and it WAS Ok at first. Now that I know that I really did need a welder, I wish that I would have got one that was shielded.

However, it is nice to do quick fixes with 110v. I used outlets at Autozone and Roberts tire (the two places that I broke down in front of). Yes both thought that iI was crazy, but they were both happy to help. Very Happy

I love my hobart handler 135 its only 110 welder but it works great and has pretty good amount of power compared to most of the little welders. It is sheilded too. But I do like using Darylls welder since it seems to get an ark a little faster.
