whats up with these baja kits, it looks to me like the hood fits right over the stock opening without having to cut it. is this corect? if so where can i get one and how much do these cost?
I like the way these rear ends look to, just the way the lines in it look so factory.

take a gander at these piscs, does anyone know who makes the kit?

humm... i was just on the chirco site and i was looking at the early/late model economy baja kit. It would be a good place for me to start. Has anyone on here bought one? is it a good one?

Just give me any info you got on these.

the hood in you pic above is no longer made. Rolling Eyes

looks like the chirco kits are flat hoods.

I'd look for used baja parts. Your fornt fenders can be used for back fenders with a little custom cutting (thats the way to go, lot of clearance, free, durable) and front kits or like mine, one piece, can by pricey. GOod luck finding a piece to go over the engine alone though. I think that for anything but a 1 piece, you gotta get the 7 piece kit (hood, fenders, nose, and engine cover). I was able to get a set of rear fiberglass fenders from a guy, an engine piece from another, and the hood from a third guy (good lord). I wish i went front fender--> rear fender conversion.

damm i realy like the look of those hoods. anyway if they arent made anymore nothing i can do about it. anyway anyway, i want my bug to be a daily driver and use it to go out on the trails and out in the sand and just all around gerneral lite duty offroading (at least for now) so i dont know how practical a one pice front end would be for me.

oh yeah, i heard about that before billy, abnout using the front right for a rear left fender, and vise versa. is this easy to do? how do you go about filing up the headlight holes?

I have a one piece front on mine and it doesn't seem to be a problem. You might need to do some mods. You're basically, doing the samething with your baja as I did with mine. Trailing around, streeting and some sand. Don't forget, if your going in the sand to have the motor sand sealed. They now sell a sand seal over the counter that you can install yourself without having to take the motor apart and have it cut for the seal. From what I hear, the seal works pretty good.

Karl- Don't fill the headlight buckets. Just mount the front fender to the back fender spots and it wil be hanging off. THen you gotta cut the extra metal off so get some painters tape or something and draw out a pretty pattern of how you want it to look. A jigsaw with a good blade or sawzall will do the job. I have a baja video of my frend Mike's Baja bug on youtube, look it up. It is 11:0o long and kinda boring (long explanation) or I have a shorter one too, but i dont tihnk its on the tube.

ok sweet. What is the other method of sand sealing? I woul;d probably start off with an engine rebuild so if the other method includes taking it apart then no problem

Ok i think i understand. the headlight buckets will end up being cut off anyway? After cuting the fenders do i have to roll the edges?

oh and whats the link to the video on youtube?

they'll be cut away. Like i said, mount them with one or two bolts on the back and it'll all make sense. ROlling the edges, do you mean like making them smooth so they dont cut you? Either way, its up to you.
