so i didnt want to pay the average 80$ for a fast fuel filler neck so i had a buddy of mine make one for me. cause i dont know how to TIG weld. he did a great job on it. here are some pics.

Top

Bottom

This is going to go on my new 16 gallon RCI fuel cell. and im going to go ahead and mount it in the back of the car.

so i ordered some stuff from summit yesterday, and i got the first box today and im getting the other tomorrow. so the split ring came today and i put the filler neck on the fuel cell and here is what it looks like.

Here is the the fuel cell installed in the car.

Now when i get my fender filler kit. I dont know where to install it.

Idea 1 - On the roof.

Idea 2 - In the glass. On the side window i was thinking of cutting the windows down and putting it in there. or in the back window, just cutting the hole and putting it there.

im thinking that the first idea would be easier. but spot 1 on idea 2 would be the best looking. the other problem that i am having is how to cut tempered glass. i dont know if you can even cut it. any one got any ideas?

The idea was given to me to take the glass to a Auto Glass place and see if they can cut it out. but do you think that i could get away with replacing the whole window with a piece of aluminum? just another though.

Be careful, you dropped your sippy cup when you got too excited about your filler neck Razz Is the cell the flat bottom type, or did you cut the package tray for the deep sump? Is the front of the cell supported enough?

On the filler, You can call a glass co and see if they can cut it for you. Otherwise you could run an alluminum quarter window and mount it there. I think it would look better than the lexan window Jowls did, IMO. On the roof would probably be a PITA with the hose hanging down in your line of sight, plus nobody under 6 ft could put gas in it (depending on how tall the car is). How tall is the other half of the baby making duo? Laughing

I'd avoid putting it on the window at all because A. If you roll and theres a rock right where your window is, you're not gonna have a very good time. Even if there isn't a rock you risk damagin the mout and maybe even pushing it in. You're not gonna have a very good time. But that's just my guess, I am not sure if thats true because Ive never heard of it happening or not. I would put it kinda above the vent and kinda next to the back window if you could on the other side of the car, but thats me. Whatever you do it'll still be pretty cool Wink

My wife hates Baja's also. I think it had something to do with a beater one from a kid in High School. Hopefully mine will not be an embaresment (I butchered the spelling on that!) to look at.

Put 2 clamps on each fitting and make sure you have lots a flex in the fuel hose wyou don not want it to pull off during roll over etc. It sucks to have gas inside the car.

Hi. my clear hose did not last w/ heat & gas. I went to a flex fuel hose. I went Bergeron marine. but you can go to boat/ marine shop.

Yes it was in a kit. But the kit was from A.T.L aero tech laboratories. It is a score offroad fuel cell. but the hose my be made in china. japan.mexico or USA. and not A.D.O.T approved. the marine hose is approved.
