well ok im not 100% sure that my bug is stolen.I dont know much about bugs,but my uncles friend gave it to me but it doesnt have an ignition switch so the ignition wire r jus hanging there i dont know nothing abot the bug except its "lifted" and it has 36' tires on it dont know what year it is but i think its a 69 or 77 well i just wanted to know is there a way to find out if its stolen?vin numbers,engine numbers or something?? and i cant start it i dont know whats wrong the batterys not dead cuz its new the starters new 2.

find the vin. its either on the dash by the drivers side door or its under the back seat.

well that help a little i couldent find any vin #s on my bug but know can i start it with out an ignition switch (the part that the key goes into) cuz atleast wanna drive it but i dont know how to start it

here is the location in the dash (from outside)







here is the location under the back seat (lookin between the front seats - yellow duct tape borders it) its a bit blurry on the vin ,but it shows the general location in reference to the front seats....

if it was stolen it might be worthwhile buying a complete beetle pan with a title. you could transfer all the components over to the other pan and vwaalaa, it's not stolen.

not unless they trace the serial numbers on the engine and transaxel.

that sounds like a good idea but remeber i dont know much about baja bugs is it hard to change em out n how much will it cost me?(not trying to sound cheap but im tryin to put a drift s-14 together with 1 of my friends)

i honestly couldn't say how much work is involved as i have never done it. what i can tell you is that the little wrenching that i've done on my beetle is a lot less complicated than all the wrenching i've done on my 90 accord.

as far as getting technical goes someone with more experience should be along shortly

there are a handful of body bolts that attach the pan and body together.

takes 2 or so guys to pick up the body

i was thinking of doing a body off restoration. is there a site where i can find a diagram, or pics of where all of these bolts are located

No, its out there somewhere, maybe in Phoenix area. 1961 in the photo you can see the heavy wall lift, and the convert support channel has been removed, very distinct features. I picked that thing up from a friend from Cali, baja'd but good condition. I never transfered the title because I tore into as soon as I got it. So called friends I believe have a idea about it, but those friends don't call anymore. Makes me sick to think about it.............
