Hey all,

I have run out of ideas. I have a 73 Super Bettle that sat for years. I have the motor running pretty good, but needs a little tweeking on the carb, all the electrical is almost done, new shocks, blahh blahh blahh. The point is I am ready to take it out on its madien voyage, but I can not get the breaks to bleed in the rear. I bought and installed a new master cyl, bench bled it and the started pumping the brakes. the front two are shooting oil like no tommorow, but i cannot get the back at all. they are dry as a bone. I followed the tubing all the way from the master to the wheel asembley and found no kinks or holes. There is no fulid leakage. I even tried to put some pressure on the system with the brake peddal compressed with a compressor to no avail. I would really like to do this myself, or with help but do not want to take it to a shop. I just am out of ideas on how to fix. Please give me a call or a note here on any other ideas.

Thanks

Scott

With brake fluid being as hygroscopic as it is, meaning it absorbs water out of the air, you could have a line/rear brake cylinder completely plugged up with rust and corrosion. Not to unlikely if its sat for that long.

To find out for sure, disconnect a line at the front and rear and try to blow compressed air through it.
