So I took owr baja bug out into the desert near Surprise today as we do a few times a month. We were having a ball, sliding around corners, pegging out the motor, and just tearing it up.
After 45 minutes or so, I was going down this dirt trail when I came upon lot's of junk dumped in the desert. While passing trough this area, I was coming up on a 5 gallon water heater, I meant to send it out of my way buy clipping it with the left front tire, well that was the plan anyway. The water heater actally rolled under the front of the car, I rolled over it, and then it jammed up in the left rear tire, between the header and the valve cover.
We pryed it out, and noticed that it broke the valve cover vent ferrule off, and smashed the header pipe closed. I was quite a way out, but managed to make it home ok. My son who is my partner in the car, cut me no slack!
I told him it is all repairable, and I purchased, and ordered the new parts today. I am pleading old age on this one and I just have to say, that if people wouldn't use our beatiful desert as a dump, this would have never happened!

ironiclly i was referring to me, lol. The place where i will do most my ofroading is in the city actually, a nice place. small, but ogod enuf for a bug, especially since its 5 minutes away. Its where we filmed that baja video. There is all sorts of garbage there all the time, people always leave stuff there, I even found a fridge! No, to top that there is about 5 cars there too. Some of them have pieces worth salvaging too. Nothing is in the way too much, except for the car on one of the jumps Rolling Eyes and it kinda gives it character Smile

Hey lets set up something with all us west side guys. Maybe a desert play day or get together? Of course those east side guys could come too.
