We have a 70 Baja with the old school roof scoop oil cooler. Currently it is not plumbed in but I want to use it and I am getting ready to hook everything up. What is the best location to add a remote filter? I have a dual carb setup so I'm not sure how much room will be available on the firewall. The motor is currently on my bench so I'm trying to get a visual of what I am doing and how much hose I am going to need. Any pictures or ideas would be appreciated.

I am planning on using steel braided line so I'd like to have a plan before I purchase it.

I would consider 2 things when mounting things like oil filters, oil coolers, etc.

Is it in a place where its not going to get damaged/ripped off from a rock, tree branch, another vehicle, etc.?

Is it somewhere that is easily accessible if repairs need to be made or maintenance performed?

In the case of the oil filter, mounting it somewhere where it makes changing the oil easy and as mess free as possible is always a good idea.

My filter is mounted on the rear bumper up high above the motor and exhaust (away from excess heat).

Those are all thing im taking into consideration. I know the scoop can be prone to tree limbs and such but I love the old school look of it. We will just have to keep that in consideration when wheeling. I was considering the rear bumper as well for a number of reasons, just not sold on it yet.

Another thing to consider is you need a big enough oil pump to pump the oil up that high.

My filter takes 3 bolts and its disconnected from the bumper. A few electrical plugs, 3 bolts for my oil cooler, 8 bolts for the bumper and it comes off. then its 4 from the bellhousing and a couple of wires disconnect and the motor comes out of the car. Oil filter and cooler come with the motor and stay connected, no messy oil lines have to be disconnected to make a mess

I like the idea of it all coming off together but unfortunately with the roof mount that wont be an option for me. I bought a 28mm pump. I was told that would be plenty of psi to go that high with out giving too much that it blows the filter off when cold. I'm doing a full flow and keeping the dog house cooler intact.
Honestly if the scoop was not already mounted on the car I would have put the oil cooler with the tranny where it's protected, but since i already have one mounted I'll go ahead and use it.
I just want as clean of an install as I can reasonably do. I hate it when everything looks like an after thought.
