I'm thinking it's definitely on sat.-sun. And that should be the correct weekend 21-22nd. What would be nice is a map of the intended route so we can all get our gps's set with way points.

if someone can give me a list of the important stops or landmarks in order.....I can try to put something together with a map and waypoints. nothing great but doable.

I have az topo map program.

just list the roads or stops or whatever, forwards or backwards, and I will give it a try.

you would think someone has already got this done.....

or we can start a running list on this site....

start
at 4 peaks road
, to punkin center for gas,
then ( need forest road #s) to young,
then paved road to the rim,
control road from east to west till pine/strawberry area
spend the nite.... breakfast
then to childs/river ... if river too high then camp verde

and that's all I can remember......lol

copy and insert where I forgot or any info and lets make a list.... then we can reverse it for fun.

I texted Dalton today I'm sure he'll know all of the Forest service road numbers! Finished my rail yesterday! put around 90 miles on it, ran great no leaks was doing around 85 down the freeway out to my buddys house out in Tonopah still got a couple fine tune adjustments still, only got 3/4 throttle ect. Isn't this the bug o rama weekend?

I was at daltons today getting my rzr slayer bumper bent up, we talked about it a little. sounds like in years past they had a set route but trails wash out and such so I think Google earthing the latest and greatest would be in order with the usual stops for gas/ice.
I'm working on a phx2flag right now that runs the Casner mountain trail up past robbers roost west of Sedona that runs to clarksdale to Mayer eventually in through bumble bee

Well we just get to the start point and go... we mapped it out a few times .. but why bother. we stay close to each other. call out the turns.. if we are making good time we take longer roads.. if we are not making good time we take some short cuts to make up some time. some times the road is out. sometimes the river is too high.. a few times we were way ahead of schedule that we explored a few new roads.

we kinda run it as we can...

True I remember going a whole bunch of different routes and campsites! Everything was called out on the radio and I gotta see a bunch of Arizona to boot. Generally the first gas/ ice stop is that place on the other side of Four peaks, then Young (for the ice cream lol) then Strawberry for breakfast, but I think that the Strawberry lodge might still be closed. Personally I like Kiel springs for the camp site but any where I can cook a steak on a camp fire is fine with me!

yep... it looks like it will be warm enough to camp on the rim this year!!! wont know that until the day of the run.. we had very large groups that were very slow moving and we had to camp near young. But for the most part we are able to make it to the rim.

Hi Dalton,

Not to highjack your post but I am interested in knowing how the table mesa road between i17 and seven springs that you ran recently is.
Thanks for any info.

Not bad... I -17 side has 1/4 mile stretch that is all rutted out to keep out the 2 wheel drives after that its not bad. if you take your time In the bad spots it is a fun run.

The USFS cleaned up 90% of that road making it a nice road to cruise on. I don't know why they did not clean up that 1/4mile spot unless it is on private land. There is a big wash out on the road that is why they are posting it closed.. but the bypass is EZ.

Hay Off-Roaders!!!

Its that time of year again for The AVC 400miler May 21th - 22st

I have been working on both cars to get them ready,,, this year was my year for break downs.. after I broke my wheel off on the Hassassampa river run it has been a nightmare of repairs ... but after two weekends of test/day runs my rail is back to 100% and ready for the next adventure.. My Baja has been a lot of reworks of things I did not like.. I finely got the parts for my winch after breaking it pulling a truck out of a ditch.. ... Yes I can winch a full size truck out ... I will put that knowledge in the box of things I will never do again. I don't know why I offered to help I must have been bored or stupid... even the guy in the stuck truck gave me the look of "Your kidding me". I took over an hour,,, but inch by inch I pulled him out. Back to the Baja. I just need about an hour to finish up a few things and she will be back to 100%... YES! Keep your phones on my Baja friends. I have been working on the Baja's camping configuration I think I am almost there I started buying up new camping gear here and there.. I don't want to move the camping stuff from the Rail to the Baja every time I want camp with the my Baja. For the past few years I have thinking about it.. I think I am ready for an overnighter somewhere...

For those of you that have never been on the AVC 400 miler this is a relatively easy event most of the dirt roads are extremely mild( stock Baja approved ) the issue is this is the AVC 400 miler is a very long event, we do almost 400 miles on dirt. Stopping for gas, food and ice along the way.. This is not a race this is held on public roads and you will need to obey ALL the traffic laws. Drive within your means and your vehicle's capability. If this is your first time on this event we have the day runners that follow us over for peaks the pumpkin Center and then back in the same day. We have the folks that can't wait to get out there and usually drive somewhere up for peaks and On Friday night and campout. If you want to join the Friday night campers call Kenny. The biggest issue on this event is loose nuts and bolts and flat tires due to under inflation.
What I usually do is I have a rescue plan I usually back in my trailer and put the drawbar on the truck so all my friend needs to do is back up to my trailer and come and get me I've done this for the past 20 years and I've never had to have anyone come and fetch me. but it's nice to know it's there if I need it. All the roads are 2 Wheel Drive accessible in one way or another..

Our club's number one rule is "no one gets left behind"!!! If you get lost STOP!! we have a designated tail gunner that is the last car in this event, They will be happy to point you the right way.

F.Y.I - I am going back to Flagstaff over Memorial Day weekend May 27th - 30th.. drop me a note of you are thinking of going.
