Word is, this car may be done in time to race the Battle at Primm in a couple weeks. Good luck with the build Chris. It looks awesome so far.

Chris has taken this car from dusty backyard relic to caged and 90% race ready in three weeks! Hats off to Chris. We are looking for other AZ Class 11 racers to join us... Dave Bolles has a fresh 2015 built Class 11 for sale in Phoenix right now 2/8/16 with best of everything but a blown motor. Does anyone out there want to easily build a competitive third Arizona Class 11???? Pickup Dave's car, drop in a long block 1600 and join Chris and I racing!!! Dave's car could do BAP in two weeks if you drop in a motor...

So what happened with this? I was there with the AGS/ORAF/Lone Kid 5-1600/1/2 1600/Sletten Class9 (bought Thursday night, raced Saturday and Sunday) Class 8 (the Indians from South Dakota) team.

In 5-16 Rulo Solano took a 1st on Saturday and had 1st wrapped up Sunday 'til the engine put the #4 rod through the top of the case a mile from the finish. Guy Savedra ran 3rd and 3rd after his wife raced only one lap in the Sportsman class. She had to have the car back in time for hubby to get in and start his race. Donald Harper ran 4th.

The Slettens did quite well with their newly bought single seater. With their only prep a quick squirt of paint on the body panels in their typical red/white/blue, the car ran well but ball joint failure took them out. The ball joint itself didn't fail, the hole in the spindle was previously wobbled out so the joint was loose.

Brian Johnson in "Fast Eddy's" recently bought ex-Garrit Wallace single seat 1600 was doing well Saturday moving up through the field until he slid wide on the turn exiting the short course and got the left rear wheel into the ditch. That strangely bent the inside rim of the wheel and flattened the tire. The bent rim hit the disc brake caliper and locked it up. Brian thought he had broken the trans. Luckily, it was close enough to our pit that I, at 60 years old, and 3 others ran down to the car and we pushed it out of the course, Brian changed the wheel and tire, and continued with the race. In the middle of the next lap, he lost rear brakes. The caliper bolts had fallen out (????), the hose ripped the end off and the caliper stayed in the wheel. It got fixed by Sunday when "Fast Eddy" drove not nearly as quick as Brian and got a finish. We also pitted another 2 seat 1600 out of Mexico (I don't remember the name) that did well, but did not place.

In Class 8, the Indians took a 2nd on Saturday, and after an extended dice with the Class winning Bradley team on Sunday, a broken trans put them on the trailer. Well...after getting towed in with no forward gears, they were able to back it into the enclosed trailer.

I was present watching on the dyke when the big crash of the weekend happened in the 1450 race. That Ranger did a spectacular one. The brothers 1st race too and the co-driver is already a paraplegic. There was lots of concern in the crowd about him getting out as there was an oil fire beside the trans under the floor under his seat. Course workers put that out real quick and everybody got out with no injuries. They were able to attend the awards ceremony that evening. In a huge show of sportsmanship, the winners of the Class gave them the prize money and contingency from winning. They'll need it as the truck was hurt bad.
