1st off I'd like to say AzBaja.com is the best site and I enjoy the humor and easy going attitude. I recently had to sell my dirt bikes after a crash that left me with broken bones and in bed for a month. I was born and raised in Phx and now live in Las Vegas I attended Camelback High and graduated in 73. My 1st VW was a 59 RT that I bought in Mesa for $ 200.00.After crashing that I bought 67 and built a Baja Bug. After crashing that I bought a 59 Bus with a 1641 and DIDN'T crash that. So on with my question I want to build a Baja Bug that can be driven to work and also play in the desert. I'd like to buy a 68-70 have the front and rear suspension re-worked and have a roll cage, with the bumpers tied into the cage and the fiberglass kit installed and then I'll take it from there. Any recommendations on shops located in the Phx area that will do this work that are trustworthy and fair. Thanks

Considering your history woth cars and bikes, you might try a baja with an exo-skeleton. This will make it more "crash resistant". Try www.bugzylla.com or www.chirco.com. Bugzylla (daryll)on this site builds stuff that normally you would think out of the ordinary. And chirco is actually in tucson. They sell and do fabrication as well. If you call Chirco, talk to Don. Good luck and take pics. Also, if you haven't bought a baja yet, try www.thesamba.com. they have local listings for any area in the clasifieds.

If not you can make it fit Twisted Evil Lower the air pressure in the tires to get it through the door.

I used to get fix-it tickets for my truck's headlamps being too tall, so I would go to the CHP office, lower the frt tire pressure to 10 psi, get is signed off and air up the tires. Pain in the butt, but had to do it.

Gotta love a CHP that has nothing better to do than write a fix it ticket.
