Hey all,

First off thanks to all who host and give thier two cents on this site. For me, this being my first vw, it has been a life saver. I have build older trucks and cars before, but a bug is almost like a parralel universe. Same but different. I am planning on getting everything running first then figuring my next step. Pretty much all orginal with ac, ira, and a duel port, so I have somthing to start with, yet the car has set out in the sun for over 3 years.... I will update as I go and if anyone has thoughts, feel free to post, I would appreciate any help.

Thanks again,

Scotter

UPDATE:

The bug now breaths life!! and a little fire, note to self: be more carelful with chemicals around the engine. I have rebuilt the carb, put on all new rubber tubing for the gas lines, cleaned all the metal gas lines, put in a new gas tank, new starter, new plug wires, new cap and rotor and points, flushed the motor, new rubber on the Brake lines and cleaned the metal tubing. Cleaned the wheels up and baught some new rubber for them

Now I need to install a new master cylinder, bleed the brakes, and a couple more loose ends and I should be good.

Thanks again for the site,

Scotter

find a bench (of some sort). remove the resevior cap from the massa cyl. add some brake fluid. now use a long shank screw driver and push the massa valve in a few times to get the air to bleed out. just dont make a mess Wink

I was told there is a way to install a new massa and not have to bleed the whole system down. of course its privilidged info that Im not allowed yet ...... Rolling Eyes

when you redo your brake line check for cholesterol in the rubber lines, if there is any u HAVE TO clean out your steal lines. i didnt do that and when i would hit the brakes she would pull hard to the left. thought u should know.

sure it wasnt that yur brake pads werent adjusted off from eachotheR? Mine pulls to the right sometimes at a slow speed so every few weeks I have to go and adjust em evenly again
