you just have to get inside your tank and do some bending on the float sensor. Also you must rember that the stock vw gas tank is shaped like a "T" So once you get your fuel level down below the wide top area, the gas gauge will seem to drop faster.

Do you have a stock gauge or an after market? A stock VW gas guage will show 1/2 tank at 3/4 spot on the guage and a 1/4 tank at the middle of the sweep. See the fact the tank is "T" shaped above. So if you can find a stock guage cool, But if you have after market like my VDO 1/2 tank is realy a 1/4 tank left of fuel and once you get to the the last 1/4 tank of gas the guage will sweep real quick to the "R" or "E" as you will have about 2 gallons left.

I have run into this also. What can also happen is the little wire on the sending unit gets rubbed through and breaks about the half way mark from years of use. If this is the case you need to replace the sending unit.

You can get a new sending unit here.

www.dansperformancepar...yfuel1.htm

just scroll down to the bottom of the page. Yu probably ned the sending unit on the top right.
