I went 7" 3/4" so the welds did not hit the head ... I run 6" rear rims and 3 1/2 rims in the front ... the front tires track on the out side of the rear rims.

I ran a 6" over and my 700x15 hit the wheel wells bad. with the 7 3/4" they still hit but not as bad.

If I was not running AC in my car, I would push the beam out 3" ... it makes things fit better.

It depends on a lot more than just beam width. What size arms are you planning to run up front? What size wheels front and rear? Brakes? Etc...

I have a 6" over beam with stock arms, running 33 super diggers on 4" wide wheels. I run 3x3s in the rear with the same size tire and wheels and am almost perfect for track width front and rear.

my 67 was converted over the years from a swingaxle to IRS and the front beam have moved forward 2" over the years.

I have 3x3 rear. 1x1 arms on the front with a 8" wider beam. The beam is pushed forward 2" the moves the front tires forward 1".

I have 10" rims on the back and 6" rims on the front. Rims are reveres dished on both the front and back so center mas of tires are located better over the wheel bearings.

The front tires out side to out side are close to the same width as the back.

To be honest. You need to just get your tape and and do the math. That is the best way to figure it out.
