a sealed fan sroud will really move all the air through the radiator thats really going to help keep it cool!

Also keeps those pesky mud clods out so you don't burn up yor fan motor, recently was witness to that. I also found that removing the T stat helped keep mine from getting hot under long loads, if I ran 75 down the highway it would creep up to 240 but after I gutted the therm and just used it as a restricter it runs 190 all day and the fan keeps it in check

I guess antifreeze disapates heat faster than it picks it up. a restrictor helps slow down the flow of antifreeze through your engine so it can pick up the engines heat. I just need to find some water to play in lol!

kinda, stupid suby' have the T stat on the inlet and the cool water from radiator closes the dam thing till the engine circulates enough heat to open it again, I chased this problem for over a month till I took Outfront racing advice and ditched it. even with the recirculating hose allowing the water to move in block it was a issue. The biggest tell tale was my motor was 240 and my radiator was cool enough to touch with yor bare hand

Removed the T stat and it did not help. I use the OEM recirculating system it helped a lot.

all helped ,,, but none were the cure.

Now it is time to bite the bullet and just move the radiator into the air flow.

That's crazy, you have twice the radiator I have. Mine is off a john Deere mower that had a 3cyl diesel, I tried drilling holes like you did but then I cut the tower out of my T stat and just used the circle as a restrictor and gasket to seal the neck. My temp sender is on the crossover in stock location and for now I still have the recirc hose running from the left side of block back to the therm housing but I'm going to ditch that since I have a free flowing system. My heat issue was all circulation related, have you double check water temp as it leaves radiator? The whole time I was fighting this same issue I could hold the lower tank in my hand and that told me rad was doing its job. Right now I have a single puller fan and I can run 3500rpms all day in 115 degree heat or leave it idling for hours with no issues
