The mumbling- they stick a page each session with "reading". Its his (or her) job to read as fast as possible into the record; knowing that the official bill is in written format that everyone can see. So they read as fast as possible to not hold up the process... sausage making.
This bill did pass but the key is that is needs EPA (Federal) OK before it becomes effective. Just like a couple others before this. The Fed wheel turns slow.
Check with your insurance provider on the collector car requirements. My particular carrer has more restictive requirements than the state so I did not qualify for the special letter they send to the state... So my car lives in Yavapai County...and visits me on certain weekends and holidays.

Yeah I hear ya -I dont think the original intent was to mumble, but to have bills read and heard by the public. Thats why we get crazy things passed. At least you dont have to tell friends you mumble for a living!
I know a coule of guys that have several classic muscle cars and they use Hagerty and seem happy with the coveragae. Sounds like you have a good one also - I may have to look into alternatives.
Good to know about the Honeywell road block- I intended the car to only be used up North on family land, and camping, with it being in the Valley only for out of state trip preparation or maintinance... I dont drive it daily in town. May have to change if it starts staying down here more.
Enough thread theft; I know some folks who work @ ADEQ, I know they changed the emission law for motorcycles a couple years back that is still waiting for the EPA to bless (I think Maricopa is the only county in the US that tests motorcycles) -I'll ask them to let me know if the EPA approves this one also - will share if I hear anything.

Read the policy by Hagerty very carefully. I asked them for clarification you are only insured going to shows and getting your vehicle to a repair shop. They suggested if you got in an accident you better have proof of an appointment at the shop.

Ya, Hagerty pretty much sucks. I don't know their policy now, but in the past they wouldn't even insure Baja's.

It is a specfic product for a very narrow application. If you call it a Beetle they will insure it. Another thing they told me they required was proof you had a true daily driver vehicle.

True-Said. I talked with my collector car friends and they did confirm that what they carry is antique special or collector coverage- they have very limitted miles, and really only cover to and from shows or the burning down of your garage... and the more "unique" the higher the price.

Is there any new info to add to this thread about the emissions process and '74 or older vehicles?
Any update would be greatly appreciated!

The motorcycle exemption is now in effect. Can register without testing on motorcycles. The car piece has not gotten a nod from the Fed as yet.

Ya still no pre 74' exempt, I was talking to the guy that does emission inspections on drive train swaps, that's a nightmare! You have to keep all emissions the exact same as the donor vehicle right down to the tank venting, and even though diesel was an option on my Tahoe it was a light duty version so no cummins in my future, I already swapped in a big block years back and it still passes odb2 since they don't raise the hood. But you rail guys can re register as a mc since your under the 2000lb max and be emissions exempt like I did and if you claim 1900lbs there's no helmet law like sxs at the dunes

74 and before. 75 was the year cats and other stuff came into play. Still most of that stuff no longer works being well over 40 some years old.
