That's a good story...minus the ending. Let's see the pics of the mess if you took any. Do you do most of your fabrication and welding?

I think everyone liked my posts on my RV build... So it continues...

this is try #3 to make the stands for my solar... it has been over a year since I put them up and have been struggling with ideas to prop up the solar panels on the RV..

needed to be strong to hold them in the wind.
needed to be simple.
needed to be EZ to install and remove.
needed to be light weight so I can carry all of them up my ladder.

I am happy with the stands. They are about 33 degrees not the 45 that is recommended for full power but I need the weight of the panels to push down on the props to keep them in place.

Looks sweet! Way better than waking up to a generator out camping. Where can you get the panels?

I can make enough solar power to supply 4 RV's and I will soon have the ability to share my solar power with others.. (More to come)

Why so much solar?

Shade.... I like to camp in the Shade..

When I camp in the shade I make about 15 ~ 20amps,, that's enough power to charge my batteries.

When it is raining I found out I can make about 10 ~ 12 amps!(did not see this coming)

when I park under a street light I make 4 ~ 7amps(I also did not see this coming)

Interesting stuff! Thanks for sharing this Dalton.

I'm considering Solar for our house and had been wondering when it would be applied to RVs. Several years ago I worked on installing a system for a remote house in the Sierras where for years, their only electric power had been generators. They were thrilled to have electricity without the noise of a generator out in the wilderness.

My son is working in the factory of Lance RV and his best buddy is in the engineering department there. Maybe I should suggest to them that Lance look into adding Solar as a factory option.

This is something that could easily be applied to most any RV, even a tent trailer.

Are you doing anything for storage of that power? Or can you only power the RV during the day? The Solar setup I helped install in the cabin in the Sierras had an array of lead cell batteries. Not my choice, but then it wasn't my choice to make. But the batteries allowed power use all night long. The battery setup was designed so that after a day of heavy clouds, you could run every circuit in the house and other buildings at max power for 16 hours. It was a lot of batteries. It's gonna cost them some $$$ every few years to replace batteries.
