Remember my truck that lost its wheel... Update... I am not sure but I think it also took out the steering box. it has not driven right since the crash. I have a new steering box on but have not found the time to take it in for an alignment yet..

Ok ... had a Awesome time last weekend at the Ride Day... this year a few of us wanted to do more driving than getting raffle prizes.. Not to say anything bad about the raffle prizes.. they were Awesome this year!!!! Tony you are the best... but I needed to drive... (Most of you will understand what I am saying..) last year I only used 2gl of gas... this year I used almost 9gl!!! I pushed the car as hard as I am willing to drive this car and when I got home I performed my "Post run check list" ... and I am very happy.. I did not have anything come loose, crack or break.. YES! ... I still need to check some "non-critical" areas of the car before I will dance my happy dance.

well I will get you an update later.

well last weekend we took off for California got as far as Blyth before the "in tank" fuel pump went out in the RV... I just got it back from the Dealer for a full check up. staring down a $2000.00 tow bill Kenny and I talked about putting in a inline fuel pump to remote fill some toys from the RV 75gl tank about a month ago... I already started buying the parts to install the pump...

so.... I used the parts I bought to remote fill the RV's fuel system ...!!! I did not know if it would work because the system we designed to do this... well after about 1/2 hr of reworking the system back into the RV I turned the key...

it started and ran.. I can get up to about 70mpg before I start running out of fuel pump pressure... I can do that... pulling the big hills I am at 30mpg from about 47mpg. so it was just going to cost more money I keep driving to CA .. well we are at Pismo today it is a little HOT ... no problem with the RV as long as I keep my speed down to where the pump can keep the pressue up..

OH!! almost forgot.. the Baja is running AWESOME.. but it cant rope tow the RV for some reason.

I am Loveing it!!!

Well got home today... 1600 miles and the fuel system held... WOW.. I was not sure if it would hold.. but I was not going to let anything wreck my Fun. I called the dealer they told me it would cost me about $2000.00 + toweing and about 3 days.. and they said they can only recover about 10gl of my 75gl of gas.!!.. I asked them "so... What happens to the other 65gl of gas" I was told that they would properly dispose of it with out charging me any extra... NICE... Guess everyone in the shop get a full tank of gas on me.. When it was all said and done ... I was able to run about 60mph.. Pulling hills at 30mph.. getting about 7.5mpg... it was long and slow.

Over all.... We had an awesome time..

I have learned:
not trust the Dealer.
With the right attitude, all problems can be solved.
most of all... it feels good to come home under my own power.

Well I have learned a lot the passed week on fuel pumps....

High pressure does not mean high volume,, There are fuel pumps that deliver volume but have little pressure (cheep) and there fuel pumps that are high pressure but have little volume (not so cheep).
and there are fuel pumps that have high pressure and high volume.. (expensive) Most cars need high pressure with not a lot of volume, so the E2000 pump will work very nicely...

I have found that you must match the fuel pump to the motor you are using or the motor will not perform correctly.. you can overwhelm the pressure regulator and over pressure the fuel rail and that is bad... or under pressure the fuel rail and that is also bad...

as I learn more I will post it..

Ok.. replaced the fuel pump... made some Modifications to the fuel system to make it more friendly.. I think the "E2000" fuel pump would have worked better for me if I would have know that the pick up tube was too small for what I was trying to do ... took about an hour or two to replace the intake tube to 5/16... much better flow now.. Drove the RV around ... WOW I have a lot more power.

Got to run a pre- new years check up on the Baja ... I think it will be fine. I have a small power steering leak I need to find. only leaks when the car is running so it must be on the return line. need to get some fine dirt to soak up the oil so I can find where it is coming from....

well I wanted to take a run with some friends today... but no one wanted to play in the mud.... Darn it! Well I got up and said "I needed to get a little mud on the tires" and off we went to go find some fun... well I found some mud some snow and ice to play in.. it took about 3 Snowman, a snowball fight with the kids and Dawn and one kid breaking thru the ice and getting wet before everyone but me was back in the car with the heater running looking at me. I was very surprised that not more people were out playing.. On the way home we found a Man on the side of a dirt road that broke his wrist when it bike lost a wheel... I offered a ride down the hill But He did not want to leave his bike!!??!! he sent a friend to get a truck to get him and his bike.. I kept thinking ... he is going regret not going to the hospital right a way when his adrenaline wears off. It looked very bad. I spent the next few miles thinking .... "Where is the closest Hospital was??? " just as a reference... I will look it up later tonight... Dawn and I came to the same conclusion... that the hospital was not going to send a med-a-vac for a broken wrist that was not bleeding bad.

Well ... we had a great time ... I think I want to do another snow run this year when the snow is deeper..

See Ya in the dirt..

Still need to rebuild the car from the last trip. But the house upgrade is above the Baja on the wifes list. So she wins

Well the mud that I didn't get off while trashing the car wash stall... turn into Adobe.... I meant to finish the job when I got home but I found a "parking lot pond" to drive thru a few times to wash the rest of it off... well I missed a few spots ... after about 1/2 hr of chipping away at the Adobe and finding a few new curse words describe my pain, I was able to get most of it off.. (I hope) ... I thing I am ready for the New Years party.. The car is loaded up and the RV is ready... Cant wait!!!! last year I burned about 14gl of gas... I hope to burn more this year.

see Ya in the dirt...

Got to play in a little snow... it only lasted a few hours and then it was gone... I thought it was going to be a muddy weekend but the ground soaked up the water over night I could only find mud in some of the washes but that did not make it to the end of the day...

I am not sure about my front tires... think I am going to make a change.
going to put the rear seat back in and install some 4-point harness seat belts I bought last year.
Going to move the radiator soon ... just about have all the parts.

Want to do something with my bender I think.. looking at the RV.. maybe a RUE-BUMPER? maybe ??? if I do does anyone want to see what I come up with?
