Took the sandrail out last weekend and found an apple festival in Crown King

Went out to Horse Thief Basin, checked out some cabins forsale, then stopped for a picnic lunch. My son carrying his new rifle to try out.

Cruised around and took a few more pics, here's one.

Dropped down the back way to Lake Pleasant looking for a couple of old ghost towns and went a total of 160 miles. Left at the crack of dawn and didn't get back till well after dark. Good times.

That house is the old train station depot in Crown King. Train tracks used to run right in front where I'm parked. The old safe where they dropped off the gold is still there in the building next door.
Now this place is rented out to overnighters.

I grabbed brochures on the cabins forsale. I'll see if I can post links to them if you are interested. I found 7 forsale in all (about 30-40 of them up there if I had to guess). They range in the $50k to $70k range.

Cool, it always amazes me that there used to be train tracks all over the mountains that aren't there anymore. Most are now roads. Thanks for sharing.

One always finds something new out there. Glad you had a nice trip. We were up for the apple festival a couple of years ago.

I can't count how many times we've been through the Bradshaws and we always find something interesting, whether it be old mines, grave sites, locations of old towns etc...That's really the biggest reason we like going up there. Tons of history in that area.

That's the whole reason we were going up there last weekend in the first place, we just happened to stumble onto the Apple Festival by accident. My first thought was why are there so many people in Crown King and it's only 10am?? Laughing
They didn't advertise anything about it over here on this side of the mountain.
