FYI...

I can see the LED light that I installed on my fans through my rear view mirror.. That way if I'm having an overheating issue I can just look in my rear view mirror and look for the little light.. If both lights are on and I'm overheating it means I'm pushing the car too hard... If one of the LED lights are not on that means I have a more serious issue and need to stop.

Both fans are set up with redundant power sources and are isolated from each other.. So if I lose the circuit I still have one fan that I can drive the vehicle home on.

so how loud was the saw on the alunimum, I did it a while back and it was ugg nerve wracking! neighbors love you I bet!

Took the Baja out for the first time.

I can get used to this... plenty of power plenty of low end. The power steering is great.. The 31 inch tall tires are great for running around town plenty of pep... And I can't do 80 miles an hour I'm hoping my 33's will be better fit.. Heated things up today.. Burned off a lot of paint and oil.

Doesn't have the power that my V6 has... But I think I can live with this...

LOL Yeah, mine will only go a little faster than I'm willing to take it. 75 is about my limit, although I don't think I've taken it that fast with the new tires so drop 5-10 off that. Smile

Why is that? Is it unstable or too many rpm for those speeds?

Just curious, I cruise at 70 in my vw sandrail at 2700 rpms and it's pretty comfy, and can push 75 if I want. I've buzzed it up to 90-95 playing around and still feels very stable.

it is the big wiffle ball shape and all the heavy stuff at the back. It is like try to push a weathervane backwards in a hurricane.

the Normal VW Baja bug has every thing wrong for normal airodynamics. big round fenders stuck out in the wind, and in my case a one piece hood that will catch air like crazy. You can feel the air push in the old vents of the car as if it had fan. All the heavy stuff at the wrong end. Big flat floor pan and round top try to make lift like an air plane wing.

It can be done look at the drag VWs but you have the big wing/Air dam on back and the car is inches of the ground etc. not your normal VW baja.

Will my Baja go over 75, well yes. do I do it no...It starts to get twitchy over 65 and the air of semis will push it ll over the road.

The rail has the airodynamics of a swing set. So it is a diffrent animal at speed. With a body kit it still is larg flat panels like a race car the work better in the air than a VW Baja shap.

My rail has aerodynamics more like a wedge I think Laughing



But I understand what you are saying. I don't feel headwind much, but a strong side wind can blow me around since these side panels on the rail catch alot of it, plus the fact that it only weighs 800 lbs. it's not hard to move. I haven't owned a bug or baja to know the affects. Wife wants one though so I'm actively looking for something to build.
